So we might be planning a 2 week vacation to OBX for next summer. Are there any good wheeling spots within a reasonable driving distance? Idea would be to break away from the group for a few days of wheeling while we're there.

I wish I knew of something, that would be a lot of fun. You are going to drive out on the beach aren't you ? You may contact one of the 4x4 shops down there and check, actually you could probably get in touch with the guys down at Gravediggers shop, they would know something. I would like to meet up with someone down that way and go out, maybe even have a Camp Commander down that way sometime.

Yeah i'll be driving out on the beach... but that's fun for 10 minutes. Hell, all of the "trails" in NJ are basically flat and sandy so its practically the same thing.

Do you know when you are planning on going down. I have my brothers wedding mid june and my girl wants to go down with her family at the end of august. Just make sure you stay south of the oregon inlet.

you dont have to be south of the inlet, i like staying up north of corolla on the 4x4 beaches ( must have 4x4 to get to the houses ) . i get as close to the state line as possible. of course if you like the night life you will be bored up there.

I guess that wouldnt be bad if no one could get to you. We like it south cause it isnt as busy.

Yeah Kill Devil Hills is no where near as busy, and equally as enjoyable. It's pretty nice.
