Any codes?

Of course... Incorrect gear ratio. But we knew that was going to happen.

Caleb did some programmer research for the 3.7 so did AJ not sure if gears where something they said could be changed but they both had threads here. Keep copious notes bro because I have a feeling I'll be doing this next.

My bad man I meant using the programmer to correct the gear ratio for the 3.7L computers I know us 4.7 5.7 can change gear ratios with the super chips. I thought one of them said there programmer could do gear changes so if that's true you wouldn't throw the code anymore.

Hypertech Speedometer Calibrator for 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.7 L part # 752501
We took out his AEV module and tuned his tire size and new gear ratio. Also for another $80 you can upgrade the Hypertech Speedometer Calibrator to the Max Pro for vehicle performance tuning!
I'm the first to successfully install QT II with 3.55 gears in a 3.7 liter WK and now installed 3.73's in another QT I 3.7 Liter WK. Oh and did I mention the WK that we just installed 3.73's on will be getting QT II soon!

Swapping gears in the 3.7L V6 QT1, I am completely surprised by the lack luster response to this news. I guess there are a lot of owners here that say they want to be able to swap out gears, but when it comes down to actually doing it the numbers fall short. And we wonder why aftermarket suppliers are slow to non responsive to our requests for more products.

07JeepXK, how about an update on how your friend is doing with the 3.73 gears?

Jays WK is driving great! You can totally feel the difference with the new gears. It's a totally different jeep now and has no issues turning the 33x12.5 MTs. The only down fall was he lost his one touch lane change for the turn signals that was programmed with his AEV module. The WK won't allow him to run both programmers but thats something he can live without. He drove it for two years prior to being lifted without that option. It won't effect those who already have that programed on their jeep.

We had the same issue with the Air Flow snorkel. When there was talk about producing one for the XK everyone wanted one. Now that its been out for a few years there has only been about 4 kits sold in the US.

And a XK :) I have 3.55 gears on the shelf ready to go. But now that I know I can install gears, I'll place that on the back burner and install my QT2 transfercase. I've bench tested the program for it and it looks good. My biggest concern is will it throw "gear ratio" errors when I go into low range? Reading the service manuals, I'm assuming not, if I do a few things before shifting into Low. Turn off ESP, keep the Jeep in 1st gear and not go over somewhere around 25mph. We'll see.

The Jeep dealers got me to where I am with 3.55s and you know the story. But with that, Criket, in a round about way, benefited from all that, install those gears bro!

With my 31.7" tires and the QT2 transfercase, I think my 3.55s will work, but yes 3.73s would have been better. Criket, if you decide not to install let me know, I may be interested in them.

Jays total cost for a front differential with 3.73s from a junk yard, rear motive gear 3.73 ring and pinion and Hypertech Speedometer Calibrator was about $1200. That's money well spent and his gas mileage even went up since its easier to turn those 33x12.5 tires he has. Labor was free though since we did all of the work.

All you need is a Hypertech Speedometer Calibrotor (which you said u already have), front differentiL out of the same year WK 4.7 liter and a complete 3.73 gear set for a Chrysler 8.25 rear axle. Again when it comes to the front differential, just make sure it has the same pinion flange that is on ur current differential or your front drive shaft won't bolt up. They changed the flanges through the years.

I doubt that will fix the vibration issues. Have you been using friction additive in the differentials?

Yes the additive has been used... changed not more than 10k ago.

I cant seem to figure out what the deal is though. Jeep vibes like I have bass in the car at 10-15 mph only. It happens slowing down and speeding up, but only in that range of MPH. Any thoughts? Could it be my tires (bfg m/ts)?

It has me a bit worried.

Matt

My bet would be on tire wear/balance. Check those first, especially if you haven't rotated or balanced them in a while.

The more I think about it, the more I think it may be the issue. I recently swapped one of my wheels with my spare (bought the tires used and 2 were less tread than the other 3) so now its a "fresh" tire on there that was balanced. But I didn't get the other 3 balanced while I was at it.

i have the same problem. it's almost spot on at 15 MPH speeding up or slowing down. I didnt' have it prior to putting my 4" lift on. I know my tires are not wearing evenly, pluse I have had my wheels swapped between a few different sets of rims so i'm pretty cofident it's not the a balance problem in my case. I have very aggresive lug pattern with my procomp extreme mud terrain and my alignment being off, its just making it worse. I rotate my tires every 3K to help in the longevity of my tires.

Still have to get rear coils made, and find shocks down here to fit.

They are 35" KM2's. Rear has more room yet to stuff too!

As for Brakes, I was just speaking in terms of the added weight of the rims +tires and armor you have.. maybe your stock ones will be fine, but it will definitely take more to stop that beast with the added weight of the new rims and tires me thinks.

I like the pads because low on dust & have not had an issue with bit. They have been good on bite when still cold too. Then again this is my opinion.

Put my ORT badges on and some "Punisher" stripes. lol Not sure if I'm keeping them but had to see how they would look. The wife has already let her opinion be known.:p What do you guys think? Too much?

Thanks guys. I'm gonna live with it for a few weeks and then either leave it or go with solid stripes. We'll see how it goes. The wifey thinks they look stupid. But then again she thinks everything about the Jeep is stupid.

Closer. SL shocks suck fat ones. Better ones coming, with new springs too!

Yes they do!!! I tried using them with my OME HD coils and I wasn't happy at all. Can you guys get Fox shocks down there? Not sure how expensive they would be for you, but I absolutely live mine. Get yourself a pair of 2.0 body 12" shocks and custom valve them!

I have been running the Stillens for almost 60k front and rear along with your basic quality ceramic pads and love them. Got a killer deal from Kolak! I couldn't see myself still trying to run the stock brakes with 35" or 295 tires. That would suck!

Changed my ignition switch yesterday!! Took about 45 minutes because for some reason I couldnt figure out how to get the actual ignition cylinder under the dash lol.

It was surprisingly easy, even though I was a little timid about doing it myself.

Time will tell. I have been having the "christmas tree light up issue" for the past year probably once a month it would happen, so im hoping this is the fix. Definitely feels a little better turning on the jeep, its more of a snug feel when you turn the key.

If not, Im looking at a new battery , which mine is 3 years old.

Painted the MOABS and washed the Jeep today... I need to grab some more clear coat... Otherwise... everything turned out pretty good I think.

It was yesterday, now, but I had mine realigned. It was drifting a bit towards the ditch when I let go the wheel, and didn't want that going on while she's getting towed 900 miles to Moab. :) My meaty Toyos probably wouldn't like that. ;)
