I figured I'd follow IamJeep's lead. We could probably start a new sub-topic (like the my garage in pictures category) hint hint.

I was raised in Rural GA (Hephzibah to be exact). It's a bit south of Augusta GA. From my back porch since i was about 5 my dad had taught me to shoot and be responsible with weapons. I started with the daisy BB gun like so many others shooting at paper plates with circles drawn on them and soda cans. This was one of my favorite pass times to do with my father. Whenever he was home in the evenings maybe 2 times a month we'd go out and shoot BBs.
For my birthday one year (8th I think), my Grandpa (dad's father) bought me a CO2 pellet pistol. That was really my first time shooting a pistol. I still have that gun and it works great to this day. Here it is:
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/09/IMG_3802-1.jpg

Since that time I've bought and sold many guns as they suited my fancy (which translates roughly into "When my wife lets me".
Some of the ones I've had that i no longer own or have pictures of are:
-Taurus PT111Millineum Pro. Love that gun and had the Tritium Night Sights on it. 9mm. Just sold that one to a buddy here in Houston.

-Taurus 745 Pretty much the same exact gun as the PT111 except it was a .45.

-Keltec P-32. palm Sized .32 caliber that held 6+1. Great pocket gun. My dad is now the proud owner of that one.

-Keltec P-3AT Same as above but the .380 caliber version.

-1940's model Browning/Remington Speedmaster. This was quite a collectors piece of a .22LR. My dad picked it up at a garage sale from a woman who's husband had recently passed. Paid $60. It was worth $450+. My dad made a deal with me that if i could get all A's on my Report Card he'd let me have it. My dad has this one in GA right now cause I temporarily traded him for a newer Remington Speedmaster with a scope because i wanted to use it for Squirrel hunting. You couldn't mount a scope to the older one without modifying it and that was out of the question. It's still mine but i don't keep it around here. Here's the one i've currently got in my safe:
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/09/IMG_3812-1.jpg

My Current Guns include these as well as the pics you've seen above:

My CZ82 (From the 1980's former soviet block police issues). Shoots a 9x18mm Makarov round. Loves steel ammo so it's cheap to shoot.
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/09/IMG_3813-1.jpg

A junky .22WMR (commonly referred to as a .22 magnum) It is german and based off a ruger but it's not a name brand. My dad gave me this one. My mom used to carry it camping.
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/09/IMG_3805-1.jpg

My favorite pistol I own. A Ruger MKIII Target Pistol with red dot sight. It's got the bull barrel and fiber optic fixed sights. I can easily hit a 5 inch circle at 75-100 yds with the red dot sight and even better when used with the pistol scope.
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/09/IMG_3806-1.jpg

My Ruger P95. It's a 9mm Double single action with an open hammer in the rear. I love this pistol as well even though it's not anything too special. It just feels nice to shoot.
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/09/IMG_3803-1.jpg

Now for the Rifles:
Got this at a pawn shop going out of buisness for $135. Didn't look like it had ever been used much. Mossberg 500, 24" barrel, semi full choke. Great for Turkey, or shooting clays.
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/09/IMG_3811-1.jpg

Here's my SKS. It's a Norinco model (Chinese). Shoots a 7.62x39mm round. (same as an AK). I picked this up from my best friend's dad who was selling it at they're garage sale. $180. Monte Carlo Stock that I made tan. Has a compensator on the end.
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/09/IMG_3807-1.jpg

The one you've all seen is the AR15. Picked up the whole package (with no mods) for about $550. (Assembly was required and batteries were not included).
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/09/IMG_3808-1.jpg

Remington 700 SPS tactical length .308. My favorite rifle that I own. I hand load my own rounds for this. Superb to shoot!
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/09/IMG_3810-1.jpg

That's all for now. Hope you've enjoyed the story.

Thanks. Nothing i own is super high money stuff. It's all things I could afford but offered reliability and quality for the price. I try to research a huge amount before making any gun purchases and get the best of what i can get for how much i can spend.

I like your thread title better than mine, I might have to change it now. LOL....

Nice collection bro, I want to get a 700 in the near future (gotta start sweetening the lady little by little). That Mossenberg(sp?) has a nice camo on it..... Did you spray it yourself?

The Matklll is on my must have list, as well as the SKS! Bro, we might have the same gun locker pretty soon....LOL!

PS: Do you have a C&R liscence? If so, what does it take to get one and $?

The mossberg came from the factory like that I would assume. I love that MKIII more than just about anything i've got. It's cheap to have ammo for and if you can shoot it accurately it can also be deadly with great shot placement. The SKS is probably the most reliable gun i've got. It will shoot without jamming in a seemingly endless manner. Doesn't care how dirty it is or how many shots i've already fired. Just keeps truckin.

I don't have my C and R. My dad and my father in law have theirs though. It's basic paperwork you can do through the ATF. The trouble is finding the right person to send you the paper work. It's hard to find info on them (at least in GA). It's a great thing to have though. My buddy that works with me is a Class III dealer. He just wanted to be able to buy what he wanted and have it shipped to his house so he got the liscence. Anything i find online I just have him purchase at cost for me. It's a nice deal.

The SKS is sweet bro, I want one. I want to apply for the C&R so I can get some of those sweet old school rifles/pistols. I've seen a bunch I want starting with the Mosin Nagant. Trying to buy one off my buddy that has a few in his locker, just doesn't want to let go....LOL.

Too bad you don't live here in houston. I could get it at cost for you. The MNagants run about $80 for a 91/30 and up to 200 for the 40s carbines. My buddy was trying to get me to buy a carbine on wednesday cause they're getting a little more scarce.

IamJEEP

Yeah saw them on classicarms.com for that price for a round reciever 91/30. About $10 more for the hex ones. I actually texted him a bit earlier and he said he will order one for me, just needs to get off his ass do it! LOL...

Picked up a Bushnell Red dot on clearance for $60. Pretty much the exact one i wanted but a little smaller objective. Couldn't beat the price though it was about $135 before the sale. Now i just need my front back up sight so that i'll have a coinciding set of sights. I think I'd also like to switch out the front for a gas block with picitinny and put a flip up front sight as well. Anyone have some extra money i can use?

How's the quality the dot on that thing? I've had some where it was awful and the dot was broken up or oblong shaped.

superacerc
09-10-2011, 12:21 PM
I'd say its a medium quality grade. It's definitely not low grade but also not the same as you guys use overseas. The dot is not oblong and fairly precise. My dad has the next size up (i don't think it's a better quality but just a large mm scope). and it's pretty sweet but i'm not forking over $250 anytime soon (the civilian model of the bushnell that the Military uses is about $450). The one i got has 11 brightness settings and 4 different reticles; small dot, large dot, cross hairs, and circle with a dot in the center. It has an auto shut off feature so that when the gun is laying down it shuts off and when you pick the gun up it turns on automatically. All in all i'd give it a B and one day when i fall into a large sum of money.....or not i'll get something nicer.

Picked this up for a steal second hand. Never been shot. it's a Ruger 6" 22lr/22mag.

Also just ordered me a bear gun. Its a taurus .44mag with 4" ported barrel. Thank goodness the run on ammo hasn't much affected the magnum revolvers.

That'd be one sweet gun. I bet it's tough to find ammo for, especially now.

Thanks for the link to the scene Detroit. I've never seen it. Makes more sense now.

I found some ammo today for the .44mag. Went to the largest range around here that has huge ammo stocks. They are running low on many things but not .44. I bought some 165grn jacketed hollow point for carrying in the new .44. I also bought some plinking 240grn jacketed hollow point .44mag ammo, and also some extra .38+p defense rounds in 125 grn gold dot jacketed hollow point. Cost $109 for 70 rounds! The price has gone up, and this place is a bit expensive. At least they had some though.

Sweet, ill be watching it. I love a good western but don't always get around to watching them. I've seen most clint eastwoods, the regular wyatt earp and several others. Ive missed some though. Apparently this is one of them. Three Amigos is pretty good as well lol.

Picked up my .44 today. Love it already, esp. Since its the same frame and trigger as my .357. Won't take any time at all to be comfortable with this guy.

Ordered a crimson trace grip to go on it. Ill start carrying it as soon as I take it to the range and put a box of ammo down range.

The FN-Five Seven ..PS 90 WOW listed on this link is pending being sold at 9,999.00 http://www.gunsamerica.com/987680169/USED_FN_FIVE_SEVEN_W_ACC_FIRED_30_RDS_FREE_SHIPPIN G.htm

I have no Idea why that model is so expensive. Others used to go for around $1200 ish... Now the ones that are avail, I just searched for came in around $2400 to $5000. I'm always to late when comes to thinking about an AR or AK, now I'm even to late for a FN-Five Seven.

Thanks OK my better 1/2 will be happy !!

Yeah, I've never priced one, just happened to see it there since we were talking about it and noticed it. Prices are crazy now. You couldn't even find ammo for that thing hardly anywhere. It's super cool, but very impractical. What'd I'd really like is an FN FS2000. Probably my personal favorite that FN makes.

I put a new scope on the AR15. I figured I might as well make it hunting ready for moving to alaska. The red dot just won't cut it for hunting. I ended up with a nikon prostaff 3-9 X 40 with the BDC reticle on some Burris xtra high rings to clear my rear sight. I also picked up a leupold RX1000i TBD for proper ranging of targets.

I like the scope. Has good glass clarity even in low light and the BDC reticle will keep me from ever having to move the turrets. I'm kinda eyeballing some precision triggers to throw in there for better accuracy on the pull.

Here's the change on the gun. I also moved back the angled fore grip to make it a bit more ergonomic.

Just ordered all the reloading gear i'll need for my .44mag. Got enough powder for ~1000 rnds, projectiles are pretty easy to find picked up 100 for a start. Primers (which are usually the hardest to find for me) were easily and cheaply found locally. This enables me to make them for .31 cents a round(if I didn't have trouble finding powder locally it could have been .27cents a round). A box at the store costs me .90- $1.10 per round. Worth it to me for sure. For 1000 rounds of .44mag the total bill comes to $310.

Prior to this gun/ammo buying frenzy I only reloaded my .308 rounds and really didn't do this to save money. I did it for accuracy control on long distance shooting. At least it taught me the skill and I already have all the other equipment for reloading. It's getting obnoxious how much ammo is costing.

.357 sig is too specialized for me to start shooting.

That is the same reasons I have had for not purchasing the equipment to do it myself.

I daily carry a .357 mag and a .44mag(ive been turned onto wheel guns as of late and the autos sit on the shelf) so the .357 sig just isn't feasible for me to buy. .38/.357 is still very abundant and relatively cheap in my location. Im not really a sig guy anyway.

I'm definitely going to be keeping my brass from all guns now just in case. Ive got enough varieties if powder to load most rifle and pistol rounds.
