So a couple of weeks ago I made my way into the San Diego section of JF to try and meet up with local Jeepers and hit some trails. I found out they were getting together for a trip out to Pancake Rock. I had heard about it some, but never been there. It was supposed to be a moderate trail which is perfect for me and the WKs limited abilities to flex. So out we went! We met up yesterday morning a 0800 to try and beat the heat with no avail. By the time we get to the staging area it was already 86 out which turned into 102 by the time we were finished at 1245. Despite the heat I had a great time! We had a good turn out with 9 Jeeps total. For the exception of myself everyone was in a YJ or TJ. Ok enough of this... here are the pix!!!

Here is a little video of me deciding I needed to take the hard way up! It is hard to tell, but this is a very steep climb up to the top of Pancake Rock.

Then some scenic pix once on top.

Then we decided to head down behind Pancake Rock to the rock garden.

The most interesting part of the trail was probably this section.

My thoughts on this!

Then some Rock garden fun

Unfortunately my camera minion did not make it down for most of the fun.

Then on the way back out we had some carnage! One of the YJs snapped a shaft.

On the way down the WK had to stop and lift a leg for a quick bathroom break!

By the end of the day I had hit every skid I had! The Belly and Rear Guard took the brunt of the abuse as usual. The Side Guards were quite helpful as well. So here is a shout out to 4xGuard. Thanks for all of your awesome products over the years! My WK would be useless without them!

This is what I hit in the video on my way up Pancake Rock. Thank God I had that Rear Guard!

I am glad that was there otherwise I could have had a very bad day! Nothing like testing out every piece of armor!

Great stuff man!

BTW, you need to find someone who is good with photoshop and have them edit out the people and vehicles behind your WK here.... that's a "desktop" worthy pose if i've ever seen one!

Great pics, thanks for sharing. What setup are you running at the front, you seem to get a lot more flex than I can ever achieve. I noticed your running an old man emu lift do you have disconnects as well?

Ya sorry about that! There is not enough space in the sig to list all the mods I have :D I am running the OME HD coils all around. Up front I have OME struts with two of Rusty's spacers for an additional 1" lift. I am also running the front sway bar disconnected. In the rear I have Fox 2.0 remote resovor shocks with a chopped down poly spacer for an additional 1.5" lift, as well as JKS quicker disconnects for greater articulation. Oh ya and I have HM Engenerring's UCAs. I hope this has helped :D

Those are awesome pictures. I wish I lived closer to places like that.

How do you like the ride with your modified OME lift? I assume since the suspension on the Grand Cherokee and Commander is the same, this would be possible for either vehicle. Just curious if you have noticed any increased wear and tear on suspension components, especially with the front CV axles and front drive-shaft?

Great pics (and video)! I REALLY need to make a trip to Cali! Maybe next summer.
Also, thanks on the recommendation on the Fox shocks. I really love them!

Thanks guys! I really want to go back out there, but I am waiting on a couple guys to get armored up first so they can come along.

TrialByFire, any time you want to came out I would be glad to show you around! I am glad you like the shocks, I always recommend them because I love them so much myself :D

Aggie07, I love this lift setup! It rides beautifully on and off road. The handling is surprisingly awesome. I haven't noticed any adverse wear yet. I have been running a modified OME setup for almost a year now without issue. This was always a temporary setup for me. I wanted to see what I could push the OME to and what I could do with it. I have always planned to eventually get the SL to do it right, but this setup has turned out so much better than I expected. I will probably do the SL sometime next year and then start tinkering with it to see what I can come up with. I have some grand plans, but I need to get it paid off first before diving into my custom plans :D
