Just doing some research... figured i'd document my findings here.

Looking to see what shocks can be run with a ~2" lift.

Note that from my gas tank install thread i found that my coil spring came loose at an eye-to-eye measurement of 26.5". so 26-26.5 is an ideal extended length to not require limiting straps (with an RC spacer lift anyways... not sure if that's true for OME spring lifts). Also, stock rear shocks are about 24.25" extended and 15.25" compressed.

Omelet has the remote res shocks. I know he has sang the praises once or twice. The best part of them is that they are serviceable. Once they start getting rough you can have them service and they are as good as new!

lol yeah... that's where i got the idea from. Was bored since no one was posting so I needed something to do ;)

Maybe he'll pop in and shed some light on which version he's running (i think the 28" long ones) and how he worked out the mounts.

Well i'll have some wheeling pics in exactly 2 months. That sounds like a long time. Hopefully i'll have something up before then that i can show.
Oh yea,
Thumbs up for the fox shocks! wish i could afford them but the 5150s are doing rather nicely at the moment.

lol i hear that... my monroe load levelers are doing just fine as well at 1/4 the cost of the fox resi's. But i just love this kind of stuff so i wanted to try and dig up "whats available" so i can add it to me wish list. Thought it would be a good idea to document it in the "suspension" forum for others who may be looking to upgrade their shocks. (plus now it'll be easier for me to find someday later on)

I think the mods are asleep at the wheel and not putting this post in the section it should be in.

I have been running the Fox 2.0 11" travel Remote Reservoir shocks and I love them! I am using the poly bushings on the frame end and the spherical bearings on the axle end. To get them to fit just right in the mounts I had to use a couple of washers, and on the axle end I used these:

Here is a shot of the SL shock next the the Fox:

I like those shocks Nathan, especially the diff ends, thats what is needed at anything over 3" in the rear (either on its own or on top of the SL brackets)

Has anyone thought about relocating the diff end shock mounts higher? IE XJ relocate style?

My SL kit is due to arrive this week, so we are starting the new suspension! Finally!

Does anyone have a set of adjustable rear arms they are using and can post pics?

Oh yes! I was using the OME shocks and I loved them, but I wanted more travel. So I installed the SL shocks for a 2" gain, but with the HD coils and all the added weight I have, they just didn't control the rear like the OMEs. So I scored these used, had them re-valved and I love them!

I am running them at 150psi.
