The dirvers seat on mine doesn't retract all the way, without a little help.
I closed the door on it once.

I guess you could take the panels off and get in there and try to perform some basic maintenance on the mechanism. Other then that I think getting a new one will be the only other way.

It shouldn't be that hard to get to it I've had no problems pulling off every panel I've needed to I just never needed to pull that one off. Get in there clean it up oil a we bit and see what happens.

I perform this every day. I never realized how many small things I don't notice or just deal with with everyday untill I read the forums.

You can try to lube it but I will say right now that I've never in 22 years of being in the collision business seen anyone able to fix one. A new one is going to be you best bet. Good luck. REMEMBER : UNPLUG THE BATTERY WHEN YOU DO THIS. DO NOT TURN ON KEY WHILE THE SEAT AND / OR SEATBELT ARE UNPLUGGED AT RISK OF BLOWING AIRBAG OR AT LEAST TRIPPING THE AIRBAG LIGHT. !!

the dealer, by law, must warranty any safety equipment like seat belt inertia reels for a minimum of 7 years IIRC

That's what I told the local dealer when I went in to get my air bag warning light looked at and the rep told me I did not know what I was talking about, the rep told me for $119.00 they would look at the system and determine the repair and then apply the $119.00 to the repair if I had them do it.

that is absolutely incorrect. these dealers want to take your money. they charged me for a new ECM in my jeep and i found out that it was covered under warranty but they didn't tell me that. i'll talk to my buddy at airpark and see what he can do for you jon.

Thanks Doc,
I'm going to the dealer tomorrow am for something else and I'll ask.
The problem with mine was I forgot to push it back up and I closed the door on it, now there is a tear in the door gasket.

Blah, mine has been doing this for a couple of months. Looks like I'll have to get a replacement.

I've bet I slammed the door on the seat belt latch a dozen times over the last week. I've got to where I just get out and toss my seatbelt back onto the seat.
