We were out at off road park saturday that is converting and building trails for ORV. We were out looking around making trail suggestions and stuff when we decided to drag race country style :banana_hitit: the race a chevy pickup 4x4 and a dodge 5.7L hemi 2wd
I won this race at the end the Chevy and my XK were nose to nose most of the way down.

Then the dude in a K5 blazer decided to try and drive threw the swamp. he got stuck but we think if he wouldn't have been so slow entering and just hammered down from dry ground he might of made it.

Its funny that you brought up drag racing the commander. The other night I was headed out to meet up with some friends and I pulled next to a saturn with a fart can and injen sticker on the rear side window. I noticed he was eyeing up the XK so I thought it would be funny to accelerate a little faster then normal off the grean light. He must have knew what I had in mind because as soon as the light turned green I heard his tires spinning. Of course the Commander launched off the line and I pulled about 2-3 cars on him by the time I hit the speed limit and let off the gas. It was priceless when he passed me a little further down the road and didnt even look my way. Normally I wouldnt do something like that on the street but there were no other cars around. I got a laugh out of it.

I was watching these guys race before I got in on it. I knew would have an advantage with the commanders traction system. I didn't slip once that hemi quit after about 100' and just turned around it was funny. It was good time Check my you tube site out I have one more on there with a wrangler in the mix.

when i built my "healthy daily driver" vw which progressed into a very capable car at the track and was still my daily driver...

my dad said "son, do you know how to make a small fortune drag racing?"
he immediately got my interest and i said "how's that?"
he replied "you better start with a big one!"

here's the car i sold a few years back... it looks like hell, but i bought it salvaged i built everything but the gearbox
67 vw bug, all steel, no fibreglass.
naturally aspirated 2165 cc (132 cubic inches) no NOS or turbo
and it had a giant funnel on top where i just kept dumping money

it broke the hearts of many muscle cars, including Vipers, corvettes and camaros... it ran 11.90's @ 110mph on the 1/4 mile

Dont Vipers run a lot faster then that stock? I know the newer Z06 Corvettes will run 11.9's all day.

the capability of a vehicle & the capability of the driver are two different things... lol. typical race for me was getting the hole shot, getting out as far as i could as fast as i could and beating them by a bumper at the trap. look at how low my MPH is compared to my ET. the muscle cars run 10-20mph with the same ET

Thats true. The driver is a big thing when it comes to racing and off roading.

Here's a tip for your stop light wars. That ESP button that looks like the slippery road signs, yup that one. Next time you start your jeep push and hold that button. A message in the garge cluster will appear that says ESP Deactivated. Even if you just press the button it will not fully deactivate the system you have to hold it until the message pops up. Now that you have the kill joy turned off line up next to that annoying neighborhood kid in his mudstain and rev it to 1100 rpm, release brake while floring the gas. If you do it correctly you should feel the front tires loose traction and you may even get some pretty bad torque steer as it struggles for grip.

It will surprise most people. I do this so often my daughter (2) knws to brace herself when I say "daddys gonna launch the jeep". My wife is never amused!
