I am getting a FTC for this cat. I'm planning on doing the o2 sensor. Does any one know what side it is on?

What DTC are you getting?

If you hook up a scanner you can see if the downstream 02 is following the upstream 02.... if it is, replacing the 02 wont help; the cats shot

I believe it was something 0430...I can get it but it says bank 1 catalyst issue..I still have 10K miles on my extended warrenty that may or maynot cover the cats.

P0430 would be bank 2 which is passenger side for us. P0420 is bank 1 cat efficiency.

Regardless, don't waste your money on 02 sensors yet. Make sure you don't have an exhaust leak first. Then hook up a scanner and see what the sensors are reading.

Matt I already have the senors. Bought them a few months ago. No exhaust leak. Don't hear anything like that.

Dude if you search JF for a Catalytic thread from a while ago, the US GOVT covers Cats up to 80k. I got my entire assembly replaced by the dealership at no charge. And my warranty was up. I posted the link in there to the documentation on Chrysler Website too. If I have time I will dig it up for this forum, because it is goo info. Saved me like 1k.

Not sure if you are over 80k though:eek:

What sensors did you buy? These vehicles are picky... so hopefully not Bosch.

If they're OEM or NTK you'll probably be alright. Throw em on if you want.

At 57k now. Hmm..I'll have to swing by my dealer then. When I went to the ford dealer I bought from he made no mention of it. I thought this was he case but he made it seem like it was my problem. Assholes!

Boom, page 18 of this states 8yr 80k on Catalytic Converter.

I remember I had to specifically state the federal emissions warranty to get them to give it to me.

Also this was in the threat too.. too lazy to register right now. https://owners.jeep.com/sub/Pages/OwnersLogin.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f_layouts%2fAuthentic ate.aspx%3fSource%3d%252F&Source=%2F

Didnt even come up in conversation. But I am the 2nd owner and they covered it. Its almost like I had some golden pass when I dropped the knowledge on them, asked no questions at all.

Like Matt said. Make sure the o2 sensors you use are OEM from the dealer if thats whats wrong with your Jeep. DONT BUY any other brand, they will not work. I had a crazy issue when I replace my CAT's and tried using BOSCH sensors. Aftermarket o2 sensors have different wiring and you will throw a million CEL codes like mine did.
