I have been VERY happy with my SA rear steel bumper. So here are a few photos of it and my minor mods.

Holes drilled for license plate holder and light power...

I'm sometimes end up in situations when I can have people climbing all over my rig .. so I added an extra mounting point for the end of the tire carrier.

That's looking awesome! How long have you been rocking the SA rear bumper? Would love to seem some full shots of your XK.... between the 4" superlift and the rear tire on the SA bumper, that's a sweet rig!

I was was looking at my old class 4 receiver I had removed, and decided to have the safety chain mounts cut from them and welded on the very back of the bumper. I also still retained the original attachments points that came with the SA steel bumper.

I know this one looks a little strange but the "long vertical thing" is with my hitch mounted.

Thanks.. Its been a lot of work over a long time.. so now I'm finally going to try and post my successes and " others '
I have completed more projects i will try and post later ( dual battery, OBA etc) still have SA's sliders to install and roof rack with additional lights to wire.. and on and on and on.. you all know that story !!!

I always have 3-5 mobile radios ( permanent and removable) on my primary vehicle. So I decided to try and route my cables and future wires ( for b/u lights etc.) in the frame of the tire carrier. Wow.. talked to Doc ( a lot) about the internal structure etc... Figured I could make it work.. The hardest part for me was trying to figure out how to route the wiring and coax from the carrier and to some how get it into the vehicle.. OK many thoughts and approximately 6 months later I finally came upon an Ideal that I thought might work.. duel Swivel AN fittings and hose.. So far it has worked great !

Holes for wires and cables.....

Very nice, looks like you have added a few items all over to personalize your bumper. I like the safety pin you installed, I tire carrier has released on two different occasions and a new latching system will be used on all future rear bumper sales.

Another small addition that also took some trial and error was to try to minimize the chance of my spare tire over swinging and hitting my tail light.

Sooo ....finally after ordering about 6 different ( and returning 5 ) bump stops I finally found one I thought might work for me.

I have a lot of gear that I have to drag out the back.. so I'm still slowly ( as always) thinking about what I could apply to cover the top part of the bumper just under the rear lift to help from scratching the surface.

Also some time I will figure our how to dis-arm just one back up sensor as one " See's" my spare tire.

It is a Great bumper and it has worked flawlessly for me.

I look forward to many years of good use from it !!!!

Do you have the pictures from when you relocated the camera? Looking for the type of wire and how the camera itself looked... i'm thinking of relocating my camera to the bumper itself, kind of where you put the license plate but tucked up as high as possible so its out of view.

That's almost identical to the rear bumper setup on my Ramcharger - I like how you ran the antenna co-ax through it in particular. I'm thinking of running a 102" whip in the exact same spot. With a little assist from Fatboy, I should be able to talk to the international space station with that setup! :p

So how much will you be selling these bumpers to board members?

There are several companies that make license plate frames with the camera built into them.

The current price for the bumper is $1,200 and the tire carrier adds $500. I am working to brings those costs down and after the one currently in production I will have a confirmed price.

I'm sorry ... but.. the photos of my camera relocation along with the starting photos of my dual battery mod and a few others were lost in a digital black hole that I ventured to close to one day ( in other words I'm sure I had nothing to do with it ..LOL).

But.. and for once.. a good But.. I started this mod my using Sespe Commander's great thread ! > http://www.jeepcommander.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8902 .

It should have most of the info you are looking for!

No problem man. And talking about losing pictures I had some very important pictures vanish... on my hard drive nonetheless :(

did you do anything with your trailer plug, or just use the 4-pin adapter when you need to?

I plan on using the 4-pin to power my license plate light and hopefully some aux reverse lights (thinking some embedded LED's). So i'd like to put a 6-way adapter back on similar to the stock setup.

I found a "splitter" that plugs into my stock 4-pin and then splits into 3 more 4-pin outlets.

One like your thinking, I use for my license plate light, one for my multifunction light on the roof rack and the last if needed, for anything else.

I plan on using the 4-pin to power my license plate light and hopefully some aux reverse lights (thinking some embedded LED's).

For my aftermarket reverse lights, I did the traditional tap from the factory reverse light and then used it as the trigger for a relay. I also have a separate manual switch wired to the same trigger on the relay to manually turn on my aftermarket backup lights when needed. I added a diode on the reverse light trigger lead to isolate my wiring from the vehicles just to be on the safe side. I'm not used to "computer" vehicles Lol.. so I have tried to isolate all my electrical work from the Jeeps.

Embedded LEDs... sounds great !

That's exactly what I was planning on doing.. But instead of on the roof, i want to embed two of these in the bumper itself:

And I had the same thought about putting a diode on the vehicles reverse light trigger; cheap insurance!

Kind of like this, but not as deep inset:

https://theultimatejeep.com/notfound.png

Rigid makes a flush mount dually... but i dont like the idea of visible mounting screws (or the price). Figure it's easy enough to weld a tab inside the bumper to mount these things.

My 93 ZJ Limited did not come with fog lights (or a place for them). It has them now !

This is my version of partially embedded bumper lights. Lol

I have often though of doing something like that on the front of my XK but having them more on the corners at a 45 deg perhaps. I now feel very happy with my forward lighting.

You know I think I have helped Hi-Jack my own thread !!

Ok... I feel much better Now !! Lol.. I was getting carried away about lights in bumpers,, ;-)

Oh and on my SA rear bumper there is Very limited space if any at all behind some parts of the bumper.

Now I have to go find your Backup camera question to let you know what I found out about one of your questions.. see U there >

Lol I promise to start my own thread when mine arrives!

I can't wait...!!!!
