Nice pictures. What happen to your XK? Anyway looks like my stock XK can get though there. Is that possible?

Id love to join you guys on august 11th if it happens, since this will be my first time with the XK offroad being with experienced guys would certainly help. Thinking I may need some more protection first, hhhhmmmmm?!?!? 07JeepXK maybe we can meet up and make the drive down since we'd be coming from same area???

The pictures are deceiving. Actually most of the pictures are taken on Trail-22 which is level blue; your stock vehicle wouldn't make it out of there without damaged rockers and you'll bust up your catalytic converters without a skid plate there.

With the 4xG Belly Guard (or equivalent skid fro SA when he puts it in production) at a minimum, you'd be able to hang with us on the Green level trails. BUT there will be areas that you're going to bang around some components. I would highly recommend putting a 2" spacer lift on first, and at least the $40 upgraded suspension skid from Jeep.

For peace of mind... get a belly guard. With that and a set of rock sliders, you're seriously set for anything we'll go through there.

any word on SA's bell guard release date? Id love to give him the business. Not sure if I can swing the rock sliders yet, at $500 and change it will be a bit steep for me right now. Where do suggest purchasing the belly guard from? Hope you guys wouldnt mind a rookie out there hahaha!!!

Rookies are more than welcome!

I think Jon is waiting for the fab shop to hire a welder... not sure where he is with that. 4xguard.com has the other bellyskid. But maybe SA's will be ready in time?

Ill have to send him a message to see if its possible, Ive got the OEM skids for now Im sure they will hold for a trip. Being without sliders, will that be a problem out there? Any alternatives to $550++?

Matt

It won't be a problem since you have 2" lift and larger tires... it just means you'll have to avoid some of the tougher obstacles (which isn't a big deal).

The OEM skids do the job, but they don't protect the catalytic converters. IMO, that's some really cheap insurance.... those cats will cost 6x what the skid plate costs, and mine has taken a beating!

The belly guard is going to be a purchase for sure @200$ its a no brainer just more worried about sliders but if I need sliders in some spots maybe avoiding them and watchin technique isnt such a bad idea. What about diff guards is that a necessity?

Matt
06-20-2012, 05:26 PM
A diff guard is a very very good idea. With that said my buddy has been to RC with me 3 times and hasn't had an issue with his diff. BUT i pealed back my cover in January. It wasn't because i was doing harder trails either; i slammed my diff on a green trail when i lost traction and slid sideways off a rock.

.... So I would highly recommend one as well.

Sounds like a plan. Your XK has full skids right? If so just get a belly skid and possibly SA Rock Silders if it fits into your budget. Im looking to get a set as soon as they are available.

I've been to Rausch Creek 6 or 7 times and never had rock sliders. With a good spotter on the tougher trails you will be fine. Its just nice having the armor like that so you dont have to worry.

Yeah with a 2" lift & larger tires you can get by without sliders. If you can swing a set though, they're really nice to have. Lol just ask Sal!!
