View Full Version : Built not bought window decal Poll

Lets try to narrow down what we want here with a poll. Please see below so you know what your voting on. Lets see if we can settle on a design and if one of the color ones are chosen we can vote on color combos and size after we have a design. I set this of 7 days only to keep it moving and also only one voter per person also to keep it moving along.

if I missed a design somewhere that needs to be in here let me know I'll fix it or reset the poll if needs be.

Hey, those are some badass designs if I may say so... ;-)
I think #2 came out best. I will have to take a look at how to get it done reasonably priced in a semi-transparent color like the photo shows. We need to determine size too. Valpacers is biiiig. If people like that, then great. It might be a bit more to get something like that done...

Ohhh, and I forgot. If we make them semitransparent, they will "adapt" better to each person's color scheme better.

Nahhh, small compared to the fact the whole car is sign written! And i wanted it fully computer cut to match the rest (same size as my Brisbane Jeep club which is now underneath this one).

A friend of mine does vinyl graphics. When you guys get a design and size nailed down let me know and I will get a price from him.

I do like this, a lot. I'd like it even more 75% smaller.

Hello everybody! I am back after an extended absence from the site. I am the guy who came up with a lot of the sticker designs. If you guys are still interested, we can restart the project, and I can look into getting them done.

Jon is still interested though it seems the traffic on the site is a lot less. Maybe the FB crowd would want it too?

Go to the "wk and xk group" on Facebook! They are extremely active on there and would love it.

I saw now on some of your photos. Well, that's cause you copied it from here and had it made in Aussieland... :p
It's cool, I won't come down under to scrape it off your window... Hopefully I will get to see it in person one day...

Mainly, like I said before, I wanted to do them to help Jon fund the website, etc.

Well, I designed it so... 😄

I already talked to Jon and I will make some of these and likely some others. Stay tuned.

Any other phrases come to mind other than "built, not bought"? That's the only thing im hesitant of....not only is it a somewhat generic phrase that every offroad club likes using, almost everything we buy for our XK/WK's is bolt-on which kind of defeats the intent.

I am open to anything if people are in agreement. I know it sounds "generic" but I think the phrase was suggested when the thread was started.

How about something that speaks to their sleeper nature? Something like "I'll see you up there" or "I'll see you at the end of the trail" or "Don't worry, I'll pull you out"

This is just a quick brainstorming. I can probably come up with more.

Mind you, I probably have the most stock WK of the group... LOL

Thats kind of what i was thinking.... just not feeling really creative right now so i couldn't come up with any examples lol

How about: No Flex? No Problem!

I'd be down to buy one with the original tag-line "Built not bought".

What size were you thinkin' of making 'em? (compared to Valpacer's on page 1)

Id like it for the same size as valspacers. Well he has a WK but that sticker would look sick stretching across the length of the XK window.

Valpacer took my design and had it produced in Aussieland, so it's a one off. I am looking into prices and it would have to be on a clear material so it blends with the window. Will let you guys know what I find out.

I have a good signwriter as well, he did the logo in full cut vinyl, so there is no backing. But it wasnt easy apparently!

Yeah, in something "complex" like this, with a lot of little crevices, like the drops of mud, etc it is really hard to have them done in vinyl. That is why I was thinking transparent. I will see what I find and how much.

For an easier design, we could just replace the tire tread with horizontal lines. It sounds vague, but check out the maniac4x4 aussie Commanders on their website. The third picture on the page's slide show has a "Team Jeep" sticker in the XK's window with a horizontal line design we could replace the tire tread with.

I think it can be done... the key is putting the decal in during the summer; put it on in the morning and let that baby bake allllll day in the sun before peeling off the backing to make sure all those small sections adhere really well to the window.

I've put some pretty cool skiing decals on that had similar designs with snow splatter and long thin elements (skis/poles).

Aren't they bought though? I mean, unless you actually work for Jeep and build the entire Jeep yourself... Well, unless you count the silly little bolt-ons as "building" your Jeep then you are right; your Jeep is .0001% "built" by you

It has nothing to to with the actual build of the Jeep from the factory. SMH

It's even funnier coming from a member who has a bone stock XK. I've got more hours of wrenching on my Jeep with all I've done to it than it took the factory to assemble it!
