Ha, I just bought my son that same spiderman fishing pole this past weekend!
That pole actually broke so I picked him up a real fishing pole that's kid size. Same price but much better quality.

Awesome pic's! We are heading down to Oakracoke at the end of the month. Were these taken up in Corrolla?
This is my first vacation as an adult.... long overdue and I'm making the best of it that's for sure!!

Catch anything yet? Gulp or fresh shrimp performs real well in the surf.

How do those Duratracs do on the sand?

Nothing worthwhile lol

Lets just say that there's nowhere to get stuck. I can drive the entire OBX backwards if i wanted to.

Awesome, im really considering them for when i put on the lift.
I highly recommend them. I've been though a lot of tires and this might be the first that I replace with the same type...

I have Duratracs on my Silverado and they do great. I was just wondering with them being a narrow 245/75 if they performed just as well....
Id go with 265/70/17 if i was ordering them today.

Any particular reason?
The reason im attracted to the 245 is because im trying to avoid running spacers with my stock wheels after the lift. So a narrow/tall tire would fill the gap but still leave me some clearance between the sidewall and the bolt. Only thing that concerns me is how the narrow tire will handle on the highway compared to a wider 265....
A narrower tire will handle better on the highway. The wider the tire, the more it wants to track in the grooves and pulls you around.
I wish i had more width for airing down offroad. With the weight of a fully loaded XK, the 245s seem to be a bit "thin" for the pressures needed for offroad traction. They're working OK, but the 265 width would let me air down a bit more.

I ran the 265 on my last set of MT's without spacers and cleared the knuckle. Not sure why you don't want spacers so bad the set were all using are great and won't break and that wider stance you get is worth every penny.
Matt if you get no bites just move left or right a little bit sometimes that's all it takes and you don't need to cast far either. Walk down there at low tide and look for the slough cast at high tide and good luck bro. Oh and great pics glad your having fun.
Sal i think you need to drive out here one night and show us how its done. We got a place for you to sleep!

dude looks like a great time! Thanks for sharing
Glad the sand was nice for you to drive on, the sand at our beach is SOFT! I had to be in 4Low for the first time ever on the beach.
Everyday I see more stuck vehicles. ... mostly the crossover type SUVs like the Lexus or Acura's; but quite a few fullsizes as well where I think the owners just don't know how to drive and think they can stop/turn in the thick stuff

did you go explore back in the neighborhood yet ? you can drive all the way over to the sound and there are some deeper holes. watch that water !!
Yeah I was actually playing around back there before looking for the recycling center. Found some deeep holes. Found some deep water but always stayed to the side.... lol I'm not a fan of water anymore so it doesn't really attract me. I went fast down my street cause I knew its depth already.

I hope you have better luck than we did. Here are my buddies " fishing ". I cant understand why we didnt catch anything, they're such hard workers.

Lol we've only caught a few small trout. Not sure if we're casting too short or using the wrong bait.
Need Sal to get in his XK and get out here!

Awesome pics Matt! Looks like a good spot to get away to!
Got home today.... did a complete clean of the XK, inside & out (except for wax). Can't remember the last time my interior was this clean!
To cap off the trip, I installed a well earned sticker!

Glad you had a great vacation! Good idea at cleaning it though, the salt air/water takes quite the toll on them.
Yeah man... im a bit OCD; had to get the salt water & sand off ASAP. I do the same thing after wheeling... except this time it was extra work cause i had to clean the interior from all the kids loading it up with sand for a full week! lol

Im the same, i normally hope i hit some rain on the way home because it washes underneath of the vehicle real well.

LMAO same here! I was glad as can be when we hit some heavy downpours! I still sprayed under there with my hose... but the rain did most of the work for me lol

Hey NCCommander, I ran 255/70/17 Firestone Destination A/Ts for about 62K miles WITHOUT spacers and they did great. I just recently bought 265/65/17 Falken Wild Peak A/Ts, again WITHOUT spacers. I wanted to go a bit wider but I also had to go a bit lower. So far they are doing good, I have not taken these off road yet. Either way they both clear the bolt without spacers and without rubbing.
