I received my Steel Armadillo Super Sliders around the end of February , or the 1st of March time frame.

I finally finished installing them, not bad considering how long it normally takes me to finish a project!

The installation went fairly well ( for me!!). I did have one hole I drilled on the front outside passage side that didn’t turn out as well as I would have liked and I didn’t trust the tightness of my Nutsert. Sooo I had a friend weld that attachment point and while the beer was still cold, weld the other three “ outside” attachment points. I then ground the welds and put some seam sealant on them, rattle can and undercoated the areas.

Not sure how well this will work in the long run, but.. I will find out.

I think my welds will work out to be much stronger..

Ever since I saw these rock sliders I have wondered how or if the factory rocker covers could be reused/reattached to give it a cleaner look. It would also keep my Better Half happier and when she is happy… well you all know the rest....yes , I get more time to work on my Commander.

So I learned, at least the way I removed them, that I would not be able to reuse them as I had busted most of the plastic “clips”. I was able to use the old covers as a template to experiment with. I tried one that wrapped around the slider (minus the step/logo area), left side, and one that was only perpendicular to the slider and only covered the ends, right side. I ended up going with the latter.
I did get a good deal on a pair of new rocker covers and just measured my old one and cut from its dimensions. Both sides are identical ( but opposite ?). Now I will have to see how long my mud flaps survive !!

While taking these photos I noticed this “ Shadow” (and no not my fingers on my camera).. Thought it looked pretty sharp..

That looks great, I received a phone call today from a customer who was having some difficulties and I think I will refer him to this thread.

Looks bro! The front can be picky if you don't set it up correctly. Marking your holes with weight of the jeep on them worked great on my two installs

That would have probably helped, I was just slightly off my mark on the front one to feel totally comfortable with it. And Yep the front is picky.

I'm happy I now have them installed and am looking forward to using the extra clearance and protection they provide !!

Looks great! Ive been wondering how to make these work while retaining the stock look.. I like what youve done with stock rockers, if you could post how many inches you trimmed off of the, Id like to steal you mod!!!

I'm currently " on the road " and will not be able to give you a measurement until around the end of the month, and that should get you in the ball park ( remind me via PM if I forget ..LoL).

Once I decided on the straight cut, the measurement worked for both sides and is approximately 1/8 to 1/4 above the slider. I played around with the ends also on my old pair that I was using as a template until I got the look I wanted. But I'm also not very artistic ! I'd recommend also using your old rocker to get the exact fit and look you want. Cutting the old ones also gave me practice with cutting them, so I minimized my chances on messing up the new ones.

I also had the new ones painted to match the Commander as I thought it might look better than having three slightly different colors in a small area ( body, plastic rocker and then the slider.. also cut them first before painting). I was surprised how it almost looks like it came from the factory that way.

If someone makes a template I would love to include it with future orders as an option.

Definitely love that look of stock.. 07JeepXK and I were talking about that this weekend, you put the sliders on there are mounting holes for the rockers that were left open and were discussing a way to fix that and this is PERFECT! Whenever you get around Id appreciate it, sliders are in the very near future!

Really wish I didn't get the 4XG's when they had that inventory sale (but it was the right decision at the time).... I really like that SA slider setup.

It looks like from the top horizontal surface to my cut its approximately 1.6 to 1.7 inches. Here is a photo so you know how I came up with this #.

I'm always a day late and many dollars short !! I ended up tossing both of my old ones or I would have sent them out to you ... Thinking perhaps a junk yard would be a good way to go to get one to make a template from, if others that have the SA Sliders have already tossed theres also.

3 is definitely a handfull. LOL yes my fiance and I are trained well too. When we first got him we said to each other "He is NOT sleeping in the bed".......we wake up to a hot breathing 75 ib fur bag every morning!

But yes they are amazing dogs. I have had all different breeds my entire life growing up and I would never get anything else again :)
