View Full Version : Ultimate Jeep Summit 2013 / Silverton CO / July 22 - 26 - Planning Thread
I know this is many months off but I wanted to get a general feel on interest in next years event. I am thinking July in Silverton (Red Mountain RV Park) or Ouray (KOA) Colorado.
Anyone have any ideas, suggestions or comments to get the planning started.
This would be a fantastic event for some of our east coast friends to put on the family vacation for 2013!

Well guys look at these dates and give me your thoughts, I do not know what other events are going at the same time but maybe someone can research it.

Matt, let's talk about this at Vineyards. Should be a cool road trip. What so u think? And how about others from the east coast. I am really thinking about doing this trip. It is beAutiful country if u never been that way.
I would LOVE to. But the 9 hr drive to OBX was hell with my young kids lol. I couldn't imagine the drive out west. I look at it as a blessing... my kids DONT like sitting still. It's great for everything except road trips :(

Looking forward to this trip.
I just got off the phone with Amy at the Red Mountain Motel & RV Park, looks like things are filling up fast in that neck of the woods so if you are planning on attending you may want to make your reservations. They do allow for cancellations so if you think you are attending you need to call her and get the details.

I will be arriving on Sunday 7/21 and departing Friday 7/26.
I have reserved space #14 again and she suggested you ask for 11, 12, 13, 23, 24, 25 in order to be in the same area. They also currently have two motel rooms and two small cabins but those go fast so if you need one call soon.

I've been calling, leaving messages and emails for a while. I called Red Mountain this morning as soon as I got to work, someone answered the phone, and now I'm in!! Site #11. We'll be coming in probably Monday the 22nd. It's 1,050 miles from here, so that leaves the weekend to get there non-rushed. Whether it's just me or I'll have a buddy or two remains to be seen. Mom's gone now, so it's just me and the dog.

We'll be coming in probably Monday the 22nd. It's 1,050 miles from here, so that leaves the weekend to get there non-rushed. Whether it's just me or I'll have a buddy or two remains to be seen. My drive is shorter, I will be arriving Sunday so I can help other set up if needed.

I don't think they take a deposit, they have not charged my card and I made my Reservation a month ago.

That would be a great idea, One day we are going to do the trails that get us over to the hot air balloon location. I would like to put black bear on the list again if you guys are interested.

This ain't good. They're talking about South Fork, and that's barely 50 miles from Silverton. (Over the mountain from what I can tell on Google Earth) Is the trip still a go?

The fire(s) is the worst ever in Colorado history. My boss came from there, and has been keeping close tabs on it. I also have friends there too.
The trip is still a go. Fires will be out by the time we go and it sounds like our area will not be effected.

From what I've read about Black Bear Pass, my palms sweat just thinking about it!

I just found out today all my vacation is put on hold till the job is done, but I think I can swing by Friday night or something. Run a trail with you guys on Saturday.

Well, I have bad news. I've been holding off 'til the last minute to see what happens, but the time to call Red Mountain finally came. (to give them enough time to rent out the space to someone else) Due to several factors, including people I thought would go along dropping out etc., I've had to cancel out. I won't be there this year. :(

Jon if you find a way out here, you're more than welcome to join our Rausch trip on the 28th. we'll have plenty of room for a ride-along and i can take off from work Monday if you wanted to make a trip out of it.... hit the beach or something,

Hmmm... Phoenix to Rausch Creek... That's almost as challenging as my trip from Jersey to Puerto Vallarta!!! :P

There's no way I can do the whole week, but I'm hoping to make it up for a couple of days (maybe a Tuesday/Wednesday, but I'm flexible).

Sorry to hear that Jon. For those still on the fence that have never been there you are missing some of the most beautiful scenery in this country. If it weren't for my mis-adventure in Illinois I would've driven the 1500 miles again this year to go.
