Thats kind of ironic.... me and a guy at work were talking about that this week. It'd make a good day trip and he likes to road bike; some of those tunnels would be awesome to bike through.

That's weird, I didn't know it existed. Which side of Breezewood is it on? When I head to D.C. to see family I get off and on the turnpike at Breezewood.

Are you on ar15.com?

I think it would be cool as hell to explore that area.

That is in my old stomping ground. I lived in Bedford which is 18 miles form Breezewood. My dad worked the Pa. Turnpike when he was in the State Police and had to patrol it often for drag racing back in the day. Never been there myself. Interesting to see the info on it now.

That's not many miles east of me, but to hell with bike riding! I didn't spend $18k+ on a Commander, to pedal a damn bike! Let's WHEEL it, and scare the WHIZ outta all the hippie bicyclers!!! 1535

Its illegal to take motor vehicles on the abandoned pike. ..... hiking/biking only.

Sooooo would you rather walk 13 miles or pedal a bike? :p

I don't mean road bike @20mph. Mountain bike at an easy 5mph pace.... its like jogging. You can cover more ground and not feel rushed. Figure its 13 miles long, And zigzag to each side checking out stuff makes for a looooong walk. Especially if you plan on going to the end & back.

I read that Gibbs Racing was using one of the tunnels for aero tests.
