Andrew, the pines are located in NJ. I went on a wheeling trip there with members from the other forum years ago when I was stationed at Fort Meade, MD

I'm itching to go wheeling to. Im hearing we might get some snow up here this weekend!! If so there will be pictures to follow. lol Im not sure if it would be a smart idea to go to whispering pines if there is snow on the ground. Unless you dont mind carnage. Those tails whould be rough in the winter. But im in if you wanna go.

Looks like fun Matt!

Most of the videos I see about the Pines on youtube is its mostly mud/water. I never knew there were dry trails there.

Adam, not a forum member. Thats one of my friends that works at the shop.

Andrew the actual "Pines" are in south jersey and boring as hell. Not worth the drive. I never go out there anymore except this one quick trip to test out my friends new lift on the XJ.

....stick with Rausch Creek and other offroad parks.

Perfect. Just make sure you stay on top of rotating them.

I will and once JBA releases the new design those will be purchased. You rotate every 3k?

How often should I be rotating my DuraTracs? I plan to do it myself soon :O

07JeepXK
12-19-2012, 08:33 AM
I rotate every 3,000 miles when I change the oil just to keep them wearing good. Some might say that's over kill but it takes me less than 20 minutes to do it so no big deal. If they weren't so expensive or if they were only all terrains I would only rotate them every 6,000.

How do you rotate these front to back, you cant cross them correct?

07JeepXK

This set I've just been rotating front to back. Last set I did back straight up to front, front cross to back. You can cross them if you want it doesn't matter, all that matters is the tire is mounted on the wheel correctly. The tire will say this side out. Remember the tires are asymmetrical so the drivers side will make a different tread pattern in the snow than the passenger side. Crossing the tires makes them a lot louder at highway speeds.

I rotate mine every 5k (oil change interval). Front straight to the back and crisscross the back to the front.

Haha the owners manual says the opposite of that. The front get crossed to the rear.

Ive been doing front str8 back and cross fronts for years as well as my Dad whose been working on cars sine the 60s..

No, adams right.... that was a brainfart on my part. Back go straight to the front.

Its the opposite for front wheel drive cars. You dont cross the tires coming off the drive axle so the tread gets smoothed out.

Makes sense, this is my 1st 4wd! Ive always crossed the rears and I crossed the rears on the XK. Keep in mind these current tires werent taken care of before I got it, however since then they have worn evenly with the way Ive rotated..

The crossing has more to do with making the tread last longer; it changes which side of each lug is being used to push the vehicle. The front/back action evens out the wear.
