Hey guys. Sorry if this may be a dumb question, but I'm not super knowledgeable about this type of stuff lol. I went out this morning to start my Jeep and saw something hanging underneath it. It looks to be some kind of strap??

Whatever it is, is it important? Thanks for any help.

Ground strap. Can't tell you why there is one there though. I'm used to seeing them in the engine compartment.

Yup, it's a ground strap for the exhaust. Ground straps are located throughout the vehicle to distribute the charge.

There is a 2nd one in the same spot also. What do I do with it now?

If there's a 2nd one there I wouldn't worry about it right now. Wait for a warm summer day when you need something to tinker with and a few beers.

I tore one off in Buena Vista two years ago and still have not fixed it.

So would this have any relation as to why my Hella's aren't working? Or is that just my bad luck? I haven't had a chance to look at them yet. I just realized they weren't about 10 minutes ago when I was driving home. Its just weird because they were fine a couple days ago.

Nope, should not affect the function of your fog lights at all.

I didn't think so, and apparently it doesn't. I just went out and tried them again and they came right on. Must be a short somewhere.

Sounds like a loose ground connection.

Mine have been ripped of for a while now with no adverse effects.
