I have an 07 Commander Limited that I like. I plan on keeping it a couple more years.

But my wife is getting ready to trade her 08 Saturn View for a small SUV. I would like to encourage her to consider a Grand Cherokee but I know it will take some convincing.

When were the models redesigned? Was it 2011? That is about the year she wants to get. We want 4wd and would like some trailering capability but for heavy trailers, we'll take the Commander which can tow about 7200 pounds. We're thinking 6 cylander, with nice options. Doesn't have to have 4-Lo but would be nice.

School me, please. What do you recommend? Thanks.....GP

2012 was the first year of the new WK2 Grand Cherokee. The new 3.6 liter V6 motors are nice. They have 290 HP and 260 TQ.

WK2's are slick looking rides. I agree the V6 motor is nice too.

If you end up with a 2010(WK style), look for the 4.7 v8 and ditch the 3.7 v6. You get the same mpg

Thanks, guys. That's the info I needed. 2012's may be hard to find right now, but I'll look.

2011 was the year it was remodeled. I've driven a 2011 Overland with the 3.6 V6 and it was perfectly adequate. It wasn't a speed demon or anything but it felt plenty powerful for every day driving. However, if you decide to get a WK (2005-2010), I would skip the 3.7 V6 and get at least the 4.7.

I stand corrected. 2011 was in fact the first year of the new Grand Cherokee.

OK, got it. The 2011 was the new model year. Thanks.

It doesn't look like she wants a Grand Cherokee. But I hope to get her to at least test drive it. She wants to look at a 2011 Patriot that a nearby dealer has. But she also likes the 2011 Liberty. I think the Liberty would have more room, better 4wd system and trailer tow.

She had the older style Liberty before and it was too small for me, not much leg room, uncomfortable seats and no where to put your stuff that you want with you in the front seat.

It's a done deal. She bought the 2011 Patriot, part-time 4WD, no 4LO. 4 cylinder, no trailering for this little Jeep. But it should meet her needs and get pretty good gas mileage.

Thanks for help, guys.
