Well folks, this was my best Moab trip yet. This XK is really starting to rock--literally!
I went up with three other rigs from Albuquerque this time. We repeated the 'Trifecta' again (Poison Spider, Golden Spike, and Gold Bar Rim) but since it was my 4th time on it I wanted to do a little variation, so my buddies in the Sami and I headed off on Where Eagles Dare, a newly-created two mile detour off Golden Spike. After rejoining the group and crossing Golden Crack, I got talked into "going to look at" Rusty Nail, an extreme trail that leaves Golden Spike and rejoins the end of Gold Bar Rim. Besides being on the edge of a canyon, looking pretty off-camber, and having some ugly-looking ledges, I thought it looked 'doable,' so off we went. The following video is the hardest obstacle when running the trail the normal direction (we ran it backwards).

The front setup worked well. There wasn't time to install the replacement OME strut, so I had one OME and the old Bilstein on the other side. The front is still sitting at 39.5 - 40" and the back at 38" so the hood was a little harder to see over on the steep climbs, but the extra front clearance was a big help. It didn't feel too tippy with the front drop limited the extra inch and I even had the front sway bar still connected. Gas milage seemed to drop a bit with the increased CV angle. Overall, I'm pleased with the new setup but thinking about new springs for the rear so I'm not so gangsta'.

Nice! Did you cut a coil off of the springs? JBA has some nice 6" lift rear springs that I have and I like them a lot!

I did not cut the springs but I did replace the 4" SL spacer with a 3".

BTW, I did hit some whoops pretty hard and didn't bottom out like with the OE springs.

I'm assuming he meant steering rack. Not sure why you would have a problem with it though

I do feel blessed to live 6 hours from Moab! The wheeling here in NM can be as hard or harder, but the granite and limetone tears things up a lot more. Sandstone is pretty forgiving.

Well let me revise then and say:

It is good to see someone other then Matt, 07JeepXK, and Knappster drag some skids! I used to do it in my XK but I have a WJ that is dedicated for trails at the moment.
The XK will resume this duty when I get a new DD. Awesome pictures and video!
