I'm pissed about my Flashpaq.

First of all, about a week after I bought it I was trying to change the tune and it wouldn't recognize the key was on. A few days later the FDCM went completely haywire, the jeep was not running on all cylinders, and had to be replaced. Coincidence?

I've been running it on the mileage tune for about the past 10 days or so. I bought the advanced trans app and wanted to try some shift changes. I put the jeep to the 87 tune and SC canned shift schedule, and drove around looking at houses for about an hour and a half. Right before I pulled back into the house it started pinging, WTF. I pulled in and started resetting everything to stock an then resetting the tire size back to where it needs to be. Near the end of tryin to change tire size, it doesn't recognize the key position and the tuner is pretty much just locks up. Thankfully everything seemed to be okay and the jeep is now on stock with tire size set.

I plugged it back in the clear what I though was going to be the service 4wd DTCs again, and there were 11 codes! I wrote them all down but don't have them next to me. I do remember though it was multiple misfires, lost communication with ECM, lost communication with TCM, and more.

The only thing this tuner is good for, for me, is tire size changes and resetting the service 4wd codes.

Superchips has a great tech support forum and they're very responsive to issues like this.

I'd hop on there, post this with the list of DTC's you had. I bet they hook you up with an engineer to troubleshoot right away.

Yeah I've been trying to register on that forum for at least a month and can't get a danged account activated. Tried with 3 different email addresses over the course of about a week.

Really? What kind of problem are you having?

I'd call em up tomorrow....

I sign up for an account and it says it'll send an activation link in an email but never does. So I have a username and password but can't even log in because it won't send me an email to click the activation link.

I had to call them last week too. When I bought the trans app I was charged for it but I guess it never registered on their end and I couldn't update/download the app to my tuner. Tech guy had to force it onto my tuner. For a company solely focused in electronics they have major major problems with their own damn electronics and systems.

Ok this might be a stupid question.... but you checked your spam folder right?

Yes I have, nothing from superchips.

Damn man... sorry to hear that. I'd still try calling them again, especially before the holiday weekend and crazy time of the year starts.

My scanner works fine (thankfully), but likewise - I've NEVER been able to log onto their website. I've only used mine to change tunes (playing with "octane" and "tow" mostly), and bump my idle up a bit. Would love to do more with mine - especially shiftpoints, what with living here in the urban cessmaze - but I can't navigate their website, either. And yes, I've checked my spam folder, too.

Here's the list of codes it pulled last night. 11 total, but a few were repeated multiple times.

P0300 - MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISSFIRES
U0100 - LOST COMMUNICATION WITH ECM/PCM (x3 times)
U0101 - LOST COMMUNICATION WITH TCM (x2 times)
U140E - IMPLAUSIBLE VEHICLE CONFIGURATION RECEIVED
C2202 - ORIGINAL VIN MISMATCH/MISSING
C1405 - TRANSFER CASE RANGE POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH
C140F - TRANSFER CASE RANGE POSITION SENSOR ERRATIC PERFORMANCE
C1406 - TRANSFER CASE BRAKE PERFORMANCE

Looks like two separate issues.

My memory sucks.... were you the one who had the key fob issue where one key wasn't being recognized?

The tcase codes could be a few things. I'd try disconnecting the shift motor and clean both connectors with electrical contact cleaner, then put some dielectric grease on them and plug back in. Clear the codes and see if they come back.

For the other codes did you return your tune back to stock already? If so, did the problems continue?

No, not me. I haven't had any problems with my key fobs not being recognized.

The 4WD codes I expected to see. Continual crap since my new FDCM and recall flash.

I had the troubles with the tuner on Saturday morning right after the pinging started, and returned everything to stock then. After returning to stock, I drove around all day Saturday and drove the 4.5 hour drive home on Sunday with no more problems. I noticed the service 4wd light when starting the Jeep Sunday night, so I plugged it up to clear those codes, and found all 11 of those. I assume it threw all those codes on Saturday morning when the pinging started (Mult. Cylinder Misfires), and the tuner troubles (lost communication, missing VIN, implausible config.).

This isnt the first thread Ive read about a Chrysler having issues when uploading a transmission tune. I took a risk when I did it with my DiabloIntune but luckily didnt have any issues what so ever. Apparently the TCM dont like to be reprogrammed which isnt just on Jeeps, but chargers, 300s etc all have had issues similar to what you're getting when a tune was uploaded, just something to keep in mind.

I'm really not too concerned for the HP/torque performance gains. That's just an added extra. I really wanted the Tranny tunes for towing the boat. I think I may just install a shift kit and line pressure booster and only use the Superchips for the tire size calibration and clearing codes.

So, you have the Diablo and have heard of similar issues? I was wondering if this was just SC problems or if it was all the tuners. I was wondering if it would be any better to ditch the SC and go get a Hypertech or Diablo.

Well I had the HEMI and tuned it with the Diablo 91 octane performance tune with the performance transmission tune. This would not be ideal for towing, when I picked up my project 240sx I installed the towing tune for everything. Ive heard of issues with all tuners, from my Dad who's been working with Chrylser for over 30 yrs for some reason they dont like to be modified, and some are mor picky than others. Changing small things like tire size and base tunes arent going to give much issue, but once you start changing shift points, which mine did without a hitch, it can cause issues. Google it and you'll see numerous threads about it. I gave it a shot and was lucky to not have a single problem, other than the occassional transmission over temp warning which was not related to the tune, and my HEMI ran like a mad man! I was chirping my 32" MTRs in 2nd at times. Ive got my DiabloIntune for sale as I sold my XK, not sure if it'd work with the 4.7 but Im only asking $300, its $380 new and mines mint.

From their website it appears Diablo only does things for the HEMI. I wonder if it has something to do with mine being the 4.7 FLEX instead of the regular ol' 4.7.
