The Steel Armadillo is in need of a Commander (XK) or Grand Cherokee (WK) in the Phoenix area to install the new Hidden Winch Mount. This installation will require the removal of the front cross-member of your vehicle and cutting your bumper to install the fairlead. We are unable to pay for travel or lodging so a vehicle in the Phoenix areas is preferred, We would like to install this in one day but in order to get the installation photos of the steps this installation could take two days (your help would speed it along). In exchange, we will sell you the Hidden Winch Mount for our cost.

We ALSO need a vehicle to test the new Keystone Brush Guard System on, this system unlike others will be compatible with the Hidden Winch Mount or your OEM front bumper. We can use the same vehicle that we install the Hidden Winch Mount on to insure compatibility or a separate vehicle. Again we will sell you the Keystone Brush Guard System at cost if you desire or we can remove it after the installation process and return your vehicle to it's stock condition.

We expect both these items to be out of production in Mid January and would like to set something up for later in the month.

The Keystone is a component system that mounts to the front of your vehicle and has add-on features like push bars, brush bars, stingers, winch cradle, Etc.

Thanks for the pictures. On the last picture it looks like the grill is higher than the headlights, is this because of the hidden winch mount ?
There also seems to be a bulge on top of the front frender, is this from the winchmount ?

Yes, in that photo the grill had not been attached and the bumper was too tight. We had to remove the bottom three bolts from the bumper to release the pressure and it fit.

I bought one of the winch mounts from the first Production run. Would I need to do this to get a good fit on an XK ?

If it was for a WK you would need to but the other radiator support but that is the only difference. I can get one made if needed, but I would have to check the cost for just that part (it can't be to much by itself).

I bought XK-version from the pre-order and is mounting it on an XK.
Do I need a different radiator support or should I be able to mount it now ? Thanks Oyvind

If you bought the Commander version then it will work on any Commander.

I'm going over the instructions before my install. From point 17-20 it seems you are assembling the vehicle, but under point 21 in the instructions you install the winch.
Do you need to remove the hidden winch again at point 21, or can the winch be mounted into the winchmount with the mount on the vehicle ?

Sorry about the confusion...

After you test fit and make sure the winch mount is where you need it to be, you need to take it out to install the winch.

Slightly bigger bit then whatever your trying to drill out. I thought people were cutting the cross member out?

LWM

Drilling is much cleaner but it does take some work as you have to step up the drill bits unless you have one of the ones with many different sizes all-in-one.

I cut off the cross member with a sawzaw.... quite easy. I cut the frame rails parallel to the cross member about 1/2" back. See the link to the custom plow mount in my sig.
