The forest service links and sites are all broken they changed there websites so it killed all the links. I've found the new ones for some of them but for the rest there not up yet. So looks like the Eldorado outpost site still has working links and should have eveything your looking for.

Eldorado Outpost (http://www.eldoradooutpost.com/) This site has links to most of the stuff you need to know about Uwharrie.

Map link (http://www.cnc4x4.org/trails/uwharrie_map1.htm)

Facility Map (http://www.sfwda.org/trails/uwharrie/uwharrie.gif)

Topo Map Link (http://www.southeastoverland.com/images/website%20maps/Uwharrie1_Topo_v5_200dpi_100-100.jpg)

We will be free camping at Uwharrie. The plan is I will be arriving Wednesday and claiming are space in the woods on the trails. I will then post coordinates to the sites as well as directions to the site. Starting Thursday depending on published plans by those arriving I will set up meet up time at the outpost. I will run these meet up time until Friday. We will also have a phone roster distributed by email to all attendees so hopefully someone at the camp site will have signal if you get lost coming in or you're running late.

Attendees if you don't see your name and are coming please post or send me a PM so I am tracking you.

Direction to the camp site

If you look on the map the camp site is on trail 96 just south of were 90 joins 96 it should have a camping and parking sign thats were it will be. Also the trail 90 from the road to the Parking sign is gravel road its just considered a trail for legal purposes. So driving directions will be take 576 west from 109, pass the shooting range and you will see a trail head for 89 the road makes a right hand turn at that point keep going make a left at the next gravel road you come to. Follow that all the way down and it will come to two parking lots one on the right one on the left and a mud hole in the middle. Don't go in the mud pit you wont get out LOL. Take the parking lot to the left and find the trail opening its the only opening in the fence and make a left were going to be about 100' feet in.

UNF is a great place to visit. It has dozens of trails ranging from easy to extremely difficult. The easy trail is just that easy the moderate trails are probably harder then what we wen't threw on our last trail with all the rock climbing. I've been down all the trails but the extremely difficult one and yes I had to take bypasses on some of the other ones to get threw. That being said there is something for everyone that shows up no matter what there driving even for you xjtrailrider. There is free primitive camping there as well as two camping grounds and one has a bath house with real toilets ladies. The other one is set by a lake. The free camping is allowed anywhere except where its posted not to. A lot of the trails connect at some point and most trail heads can be reached with a short 5mn drive from improved camp grounds. There also cabins and houses for rent for the weekend ladies. There is also a gas station called the outpost the sells everything you need or forgot to keep wheeling or replace forgotten camping gear as well as a diner that serves breakfast lunch and dinner and free air to refill our tires. Its about 15mn drive to a Napa store and about 30mn or less to a walmart. Due to the heat down here I recommend visiting in the spring fall or winter avoiding the summer if your not from the south you'll probably be miserable. The trails right now are $5 a day $30 for a season pass I know there going up to 7 and 40 I think. There are also hiking trails beaches rivers mountain bike trails all kinds of stuff besides off road trails ladies. Well just shedding some light on the subject to help people decide on a new place. I know there are a couple of NC commanders that go there I'm sure they will chime in as well.

There is now some construction going on at UNF which will also mean some new trail routes up there as well. This is not public information yet but not top secret either. We just get the inside scoop from volunteering up there. I would encourage everyone interested in going to view this forum here http://www.nc4x4.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=78
This a thread called Friends of Uwharrie and where you can learn about new and upcoming things at the forest and where we coordinate all our plans. Just some information for now.

To the Top!

Hopefully I will be able to attend. This will be my first trail ride so please forgive me if I ask a ton of questions. A few were answered by Sal already, but I'm sure I'll have more. LOL...I will be with my Lady so, I will be "camping" in a cabin. Are there actual addresses that I could punch in to the GPS? Also, I know it's early but, were would the meeting point be and time frame.

Sal-XK
12-31-2010, 10:59 AM
Most likely the first roll call will be were most of us are camping. Then depending on who needs what we can rally at the out post so people can get supplies fuel or food then roll out from there. ElDorado Outpost 4021 NC 109. Troy, NC 27371. That should be the right address. A map from outposts website http://www.eldoradooutpost.com/badin_lake_area_new%20edit.jpg the time frame will be based on weather I would imagine. If its hot out you can't sleep in to much in a tent.

As far as I'm concerned the date of May 19th is the weekend. I'm planning on getting there Wednesday my self and stay until Sunday. Do you guys want a group camp site or individual camp sites. let your opinion be heard don't make us assume what you want :) I think the group site would be nice.

I was going to vote for my camping preference but now it looks as if the fiancee has sparked an interest in coming along. Still no worries about camping out, just wont be able to sleep in my comfy hammock. I'm going to bring it along anyway, after all, it's a long drive and a few days together, I'll probably do something stupid  get kicked outta the tent.;)

On a side note, doesn't look like I'm going to be able to get some skids & rock rails before this trip, I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway. I noticed allot of activities at park like hiking/backpacking & possible some kayaking. I may spend a few more days & just make it an official vacation.

Glad you made it over here, We can only decide by the votes we get so keep that in mind. Yes I go hiking there with my son its not to bad there are some good mountain/hills to hike up and plenty of designated trails. Badin lake is huge you can boat around that if you want. Uwharrie river is right there I Would not have a issue driving you up stream and picking you up down stream if ya want. So please come out make all the plans you want there so much to do there beside wheeling.

Yes those are the Maxxis MT's they have been great tires for me. I was aired down but only to about 20 PSI, I've been working my down the tries ply is stiffer then a thought it was so I'll go down to about 18 or 16 PSI on my next outing and see how much flex I get out of that.

Hahhahaha that's funny bro, that video posted above is the easy route on that trail but that's the hardest trail they have. All the others have much easier by passes then that. 75% of the trails can be done in a stock rig with a good spotter and calm nerves behind the wheel

Just an update, I've never been to the group campsite before I usually primitive camp. There is a Uwharrie work day coming up on the 25th that I will be attending. So I'm going to swing by and take a look at it and see if it will fit our needs. If it's all good to go I will reserve the site and let you all know what I it cost me out of pocket so we can all chip in. So no BS last call to see who is coming and camping with the group. So right now there is only three of us that voted for the group camp sit I don't think this will be cost effective as it stands so primitive camp might be the way to go free is good. So lets get this nailed down thanks

Crackedup
02-14-2011, 06:29 AM
Sounds good Sal, if you think the price may be a little steep. Post up the total price, we can nail down who would like to chip in this week, then we could all make a decision. If its seems to be fairly cheep, then make an executive decision. I think we could live with that. As of right now, I cannot completely commit to being able to make it, but if we need to nail something down I would be willing to say yes I can make it. If I have to work, I'll make up the monies spent on overtime. ;)

On the other hand. Your correct, free is always good and I love the primitive camp, but is there a chance we could hit a busy week and not find anything?

Sal-XK

Usually if you show up Friday night it's slim Pickens. But since were showing up middle of the week I don't see an issue with getting a good spot.

As of yesterday, I have the old lady "planning" the road trip. I told her to save the 20th and 21st for wheeling. I would like to be able to wheel with all if not most of you guys. So, Friday and Saterday are cool with you guys, right? If not, tell me now before she "plans" the trip.

As I've mentioned before, I'll be staying in either a cabin or hotel depending on what she decides.

Sal-XK
02-16-2011, 01:54 PM

Ok the group camp site is $40 a night times 5 nights thats $200. Thats a lot fuel or food or a lot of something. I'm thinking we should just camp off one of the trails for free. There is plenty of spots that can hold all of us pretty easy and we should have out pick because I plan on getting there Wednesday while the sun is still up. Let me know what you guys need and remember the outpost will be just 10mn away and I'm sure if need be we can sneak to one of the bath houses to. For $12 we can rent a normal site which gives us access to the bathhouse legitimately for like a half time shower. I'm use to 40 day missions with no showers or toilets so I'm good LOL Just let me know what you all are thinking.

FYI- I will be coming up with a schedule for arrivals and meeting times at the outpost so I can bring people to the camp site. I will also send out GPS coordinates and directions to the site if anyone has a GPS and wants to just come straight in. I plan on being there that Wednesday to get setup mark the coordinates and such. Unless anyone plans on coming up that day I will only be setting up meet times at the outpost for Thursday and Friday. So as soon as you guys have an idea about when you are showing up I can tailor the meet times around your planned arrival times.

Also if anyone has any ideas for activities post up here. Don had mentioned maybe I can givie a map class to the group. Show everyone how to properly read plot and do all the old school stuff on maps. It is a lost art and a perishable skill IMO. I would be glad to do this if there is interest in it. A map, compass and protractor can save your butt and get you were you need to be. Actually once you can reach the level of terrain association a map is all you need to save your butt.

The local Jeep dealer to Flagpole Knob is Dick Myers Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Wow, many thanks to our sponsor! Thank you Neil. We should probably take a group photo for the dealership with our XK/WK's. It would be good advertisement! haha

How long does everyone else plan on staying? I know I'll stay for two nights. Just not sure if I'm coming Thursday-Saturday or Friday-Sunday. It honestly depends on my job situation after I graduate on May 14th.

Sal, is there a schedule as far as what we'll be doing? Is anyone going fishing, hiking, shooting (not sure if range is open again) in between wheeling adventures?

The range as far as I know is still closed for now. I know they rerouted a trail around there I think there trying to get it open again. A group photo will be a must for sure. I haven't planned out a schedule yet other then to get people to the site. I figured most of it can be taken as it comes. Not sure about the other activities I know most people are coming to run the trails more then anything. IamJeep I think is looking for other stuff to do maybe while he is there. I hope you can stay the entire time but jobs are more important so come for as long as you can bro. There was talk about doing stuff more orientated towards our hobby like giving a map class to the group. Maybe we can a recovery event or something. More people need to speak up on what they want or don't want that would help. I plan on being there from Wednesday night till Sunday evening. I know we can't run the trails 24/7 so any suggestion on stuff to do is helpful.

Chapman89
03-30-2011, 09:35 PM
Alright, personally I'm just there to give the XK a work out. I go hiking and fishing nearby, finding "legal" spots to wheel is difficult around here. I'd be interested in the information sessions as you suggested. It would be something educational to do during our downtime in between trail runs.

On a side note I picked up a like new husky cargo liner for $40 from a local. Unfortunately it doesn't sit flush with the 3rd row missing. I guess I need to make my storage box or put my seats back in...

Seems like forever since I've had time to get in on some camp commander talk, been busy. Unfortunately a busted strut slowed me down. Did get the busted one replaced Tue. night, last night was the other, tonight, finish up with tire rotation and I'm back running. Should ride more like an actual vehicle now and not a chuck wagon.

Sal, you bet brudda. I still plan on attending. Boss will have to tie a winch around my butt to stop me. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Don't know if the little lady will be making it for sure yet, if she doesn't I might drag my brother along.

I can make it down on Wed. but I think me & Cico was going to meet somewhere in the southern part of WV to convoy the rest of the way. Can't remember what day we was planning this though. Maybe Cico can refresh my sharp memory.

As far as some activities. Map orienteering would be very cool. I know enough about it to get me otta the woods safe using topo and a compass. I never go backpacking without the good ol map and compass. As we all know, batteries die, a gps is just added weight. I could show anyone who may be interested how to make a nice lightweight penny stove. All you will need is a couple cans, beer, pop, red bull, whatever, a sharp blade & thumbtack. Oh, dont forget a penny. I also have some do it yourself stuff I can show off and how to make. DIY cook pots, stoves, dehydrated meals & recipes, Whoopie Slings & splices using hollow core ropes, and/or other small odds and ends. I'll be bringing my hammock so if you all want to check it out and ask questions if your intrested, feel free. If you want to jump in and try it out, your more than welcome also. Just a warning, if anyone is used to sleeping on the ground, you may end up with an itch to buy a hammock, especially for backpacking where all you need is two trees to pop up camp.

My camp hammock setup from a recent 3 day backpack trip.

Crackedup, Glad you're still going to make it. Those things sound pretty cool and could help fill the down time. I will be planning some night runs on the trails we will stick to the easier ones for this. It's interesting how much harder the trails get at night LOL and it's a good experience for those who haven't done that yet. Wednesday will be just setting up space for us and getting directions and stuff posted for everyone to make it in. If you can't make it until Thursday no big deal. Some time in April or the first week of may I will need people to post there travel plans so I know when to expect people and when to start looking for you if you don't show.

XK-Forum.com (http://www.xk-forum.com/content.php) is sponsoring our event and has offered a secure counsel to raffle off. Secure Counsel Details (http://www.xk-forum.com/showthread.php/6-Secure-Console-Lockable-Center-Console?highlight=secure) I will sell the tickets at $10 a piece, I do need a minimum amount a tickets though. Jon is taking a loss so we can raffle one off but I don't want that loss to be to bad. Depending how close we get I might just kick in the extra cash to cover the cost. So what you guys think $10 ticket chance to win a $150 item. It fits all XK's WK's 2006 to 2010
So who wants a ticket

I love to fish and hike. Not sure if we have enough time to do a real long hike, but a nice night hike is always fun. My jeep is my way to work and back. I hope the trails have enough bypasses so I don't rip anything off.

Let's make a bare essentials list;
CB raido
Recovery strap
Front and back recovery points
Food, water
First aid kit
Fire extinguisher
Beer, wine, liquer

Ok, maybe not. I should be there Thursday- Saturday or Friday - Sunday. My better half is comming with me so we'll probably do some like hiking and horseback riding. I wouldn't mind a "recovery" class or "map" class, both would be great.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I will not participate in the drawing for the item even if I chip in the extra coin to get it so I will remain neutral in the drawing so there will be no issues. Cash at the event for the drawing is fine I have no issues with that at all. But please keep in mind money will be spent on it plus the shipping to get it to me. I will be on the hook for the money and Jon will be paying for the shipping plus the cost of the discount we got on it. We will put everyones name in a hat or bucket or something and I or maybe if someone has kids coming they can pull the name out. I want to thank Jon and XK-forum for donating the shipping and giving us a huge discount on the item so we can make this happen.

We have 5 total in for tickets I would like to get 5 more tickets sold. If we get at least 3 more tickets sold I will chip in the rest if I have to.

were camping at pretty much sea level the highest mountain I been on was 800' I think. At the end of May it should be pretty warm outside over night lows should be in the 60's if not 70's by then day time highs probably in the 90's. The weather is more predictable then flag pole for sure so a week out we should have a good idea what to expect.

After detailing my XK today my neighbor pulled in his driveway, he got out and said, "Why bother, by tomorrow you'll want to go give it a mud bath" hahaha

It was the first detail of the year and I'll admit it sure looks nice having a layer of wax, clean tires, and chrome wheels that actually shine. The interior got the royal treatment of leather cleaning/conditioning, all the plastics got Meguiars natural finish and the carpet was scotch guarded...again.

Well, it looks as though we will have a nice turnout. Camp Commander has never been another Camp Jeep and never will. I'm thankful for it. The guys that attend Camp Commander seem to really enjoy their XK and aren't afraid to use it for the intended purpose. I like that it is a small event , compared to Camp Jeep or the Jeep Jamborees , and we always have a good time and everyone enjoys themselves. Personally, I always like to extend some southern hospitality and help out where I can. No trip goes without some sort of issue, from muffler installs at camp ( after some pre-mature off roading ) to broken legs, but with a little help and experiance from each other we pull through. On this trip, it looks like we have three returning members, Cico, Sal, and myself. If any off you guys need help or advice about the camp, don't hesitate to ask one of us. Some of you may be new to the whole camping thing, if so, dont think twice about asking questions . A little advice now can really make a difference in your preparation. Lat year, I bought a cheap canopy from Wally World just to use for my little back country camping trips. It didnt last long in the rain and has since been discarded. I learned my lesson and I bought an Easy Up canopy. We connected a bunch of tarps and Sal's canopy together for the "command center" last year and I am prepared to do the same this time. We are a small enough group that we just all chip in with what needs to be done and the whole group will enjoy themselves that much more. You wont get that at a large major event, I don't think. If anyone has any ideas or questions as they are getting their gear together, post it up here. If you need anything, post it up. I have extra gear and sure others do too, so if you need anything last minute, post it up. As far as food goes, of course everyone is free to do as they wish. In the past, the meals seemed to gravitate toward the " command center " because of the weather and we just kind of shared everything. It can be a little intimidating for some that is not accustomed to camping and I dont want anyone to feel left out. This trip is a laid back, easy going, family friendly event and I know that our members will do what they can to keep it that way. So, since I'm brainstorming and getting my gear together, feel free to ask me for help or advice. I may not be able to help but the next guy will. Oh yeah, Cico , get that coffee thing squared away. We dont want to scare off any more members. :)

Sal-XK

Thanks Neil with all the trail questions and stuff like that we never covered the general atmosphere of Camp Commander. Diffidently a family friendly event. Last year was a great time even with the bad weather which hopefully we will avoid this year. We are like a community while at camp everyone pitching in on what needs to be done from getting firewood to cooking or medivacing a camper. We pool are resources and just hang out and have a good time thats for sure. I thought the mud Don was making was good, man coffee. :) Just make sure bring everything you will need from food to toilet paper. Were closer to supplies this year so if you forget something or run out don't sweat it.

Negative. We did not break down the command center nor any tents when we headed out. I really dont see that as being a problem in the forests. Maybe at a shoddy campground somewhere but in the national forests where most people carry a sidearm, I think its ok. :)

Cool, thanks for the info guys. I suppose that would be quite the hassle breaking it down everyday. On a side note, I should have my concealed weapons permit by then! I dropped off the application March 16th. Wake County has been really quick the last few months from what I've heard.

Sal, I'll check my work schedule. If you did go, what time would it be?

I can't go until the 30th. My anniversary is this weekend kid B-day party next weekend oh well. So I will be planning on going the 30th should be a Saturday. I like to get there in the morning maybe have breakfast at the outpost some where between 0800 and 0900. On the up side hopefully it's enough notice for you to get the day off.

Nailed down the days off from work today. May is going to be busy, gotta go to Illinois the first week, Pennsylvania the second week, third week opened up for Camp Commander, then back to Illinois the fourth week.

Can downed trees be cut in the Forrest? I'll bring the chainsaw if we can.
Can we fill up water jugs at the outpost? I'd rather fill up a few gallons there than haul the weight.

I can also supply a tent, air mattress, sleeping bag, if anyone needs it. Sounds like I should bring the French press, percolator, and just wait till you see my DIY percolator. I'll bring my spare hammock along for anyone that may want to lounge around or take a nap.

Few other little things some might bring:
Camp shoes-sure feels good after a long day
Wet naps/wet ones-makes a man feel freash before bed, and keeps the stank down
Spare water bottles for the trail, both drinking and overheating
Don't forget your compass for Sal's orienteering class. I can supply topo of the area if anyone is interested.
Small shovel or trial-for digging cat holes.

If anyone needs anything as far as camp gear goes, let me know, I'll be bringing my big stove which I don't have to use. So if anyone needs a stove, they will be more than welcome to borrow it. I have a few additional items that I could loan out also.

Cool glad you got the time off out of the way. Unless you're a sawyer you're not suppose to use a chainsaw period in the forest. That being said I know people who do for firewood, but I'll have my reciprocating saw on me which is usually enough for the size trees we have at Uwharrie. Not sure about getting water from the outpost but I know the camp sites have spigots. I carry a case of water and a 7 gallon jug which is usually more then enough water. Baby wipes I have some in the jeep right now I never leave home with out them you never know when the moment will strike LOL. If you have or can get maps bring them thats awesome if they have the grid lines on them even better. I don't need anything myself but others should post if they do.

I would also recommend that people print out Don's Gear List (http://jeepdex.com/Flagpole/Gear.pdf) for packing. As much as I camp one trip I forgot tent stakes and Don saved my butt for sure. If I would of used his list that wouldn't of happened.

Some other items to think about.
fire extinguisher is a must you should have one. Tool kit is a real good idea, a small 50 piece will work its just in case. A bag of zip ties those things come in real handy. Welding rods you can make a trail welder with jumper cables and a battery. BUG SPRAY bring your bug spray I have two bottles in my jeep all the time. Fresh batteries for all your lights lamps music and so forth.

I wouldn't bother hauling any wood down here bro. There is lots of fallen wood at Uwharrie and I kept a huge amount of wood from building my shed and the outpost sells it real cheap. We'll be good man save the gas money and the cargo space.

Like a fart can. LOL ! No , really it sounds good I think. It has a totally different sound from inside the cab than what you hear from behind it. Compared to the tire noise , you dont really notice the muffler while cruising at 50 mph. you really hear it when accelerating thru the gears though.

For anyone interested in outdoor gear deals check out the 2 sites I linked below.

First is Steep and Cheap. Every so many minutes they have a new deal, sometimes up to 80% off stuff. You can leave it open in your browser window & it will update new deals when they arrive.
Steep and Cheep (http://www.steepandcheap.com/)

Second is Outdoordaily.com. They have one deal a day. You have to be quick sometimes with this one. Like todays deal, a GoLite Demaree Canyon 800 Fill Down Jacket, normally $200, today, $75. I missed out on this one because I didnt check it out early enough, or I would have bought one.
Outdoordaily.com (http://www.outdoordaily.com/)

So, if anyone wants to buy a new sleeping bag or tent, keep an eye on Steep & Cheep. They usually have them off and on all day. Don't forget, I also have a 2 person then & single sleeping bag available to loan out also. Just letting you all know of a couple good deal sites I found in case you want some new gear. With exception to iamjeep, sleeping in a bed, coverd roof, pfffft.. ;-)

I would also suggest, from past experience, you update your GPS. When Crunchy broke his leg,
the hospital had closed and moved. The new hospital was not in the GPS because the streets were too new.

Next point, we should have location of emergency facilities.

And we should have an emergency contact list. List of allergies, next of kin, copy of your will and your SSN.
No SSN....but a name and number.
If Crunchy's wife was't there, who would we have called? What if they were both injured?
If this is done at the check in at the ranger station or outpost or something, no need.

Something else to clutter our time out and about....

Another post someone had numbered the back of all the vehicles in the party. I really don't understand why, if you can
explain to me, that would be helpful. Should we do that? We really should have a checklist of some sort to be sure we don't
lose someone...or if we do, we will know who. Then that would require check in and check out...something else to clutter
our adventure.

Screw it...balls out! Not litterally....

No one takes your contact info at the forest, so we can have a sign in sheet that could cover that issue. I don't think we need to number the Jeeps that was for a convoy order that got messed up anyway later in there trip. We will assign a lead vehicle probably myself because I'm familiar with the trails and a trail jeep who brings up the rear with out passing anybody up probably Don because the trail jeep has to be capable and be an experienced off roader because he most likely will only be recoverable from the front. The jeep in front of him should be capable of pulling the trail jeep as well. Then put all the new guys in between putting the least experienced people up front behind the trail jeep. How does that sound to everyone. Troy is the servicing town to Uwharrie, so dialing 911 gets you police and fire from troy (who are familiar with the trails) which is pretty close something we didn't have on some of our adventures. I'm not sure were there hospital or the closest hospital is we will have to look that one up.

My first recovery was my girlfriends Volvo XC90 in a parking lot. I **** you not the asphalt gave way underneath the front end of her suv (there was a hollow section under the ground) leaving the rear end up and the rear tires almost off the ground. Fortunately I was meeting her for lunch and I always carry my gear bag. After a couple of minutes deciding the best plan she was safely recovered with no damage to the vehicle.

I just got back from SoCal for training and certification in " Meister Refinisher " course for Standox. Standox is a german automotive paint company that is owned by DuPont.

" Standox is recommended by leading carmakers worldwide.
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/04/approval-1.jpg
In international car repair business, the global and national approval of refinish paint systems by car makers is becoming more and more important.

Standox has attained more than 40 approvals. That means Standox products meet the quality specifications of the OEM carmakers. These contracted approvals set the standards for various aspects like product systems, trainings, services or color management. Naturally this makes Standox an ideal partner for bodyshops, the carmakers and car dealers around the world.
Standox the no. 1 worldwide.
From this close cooperation with the car industry, it is Standox customers above all who benefit, be they authorized workshops or independent paintshops.
They can rely on paint systems that satisfy all the necessary requirements and are therefore already able to handle warranty work for the major car manufacturers."

I recieved a pair of Orange County Choppers safety glasses that will be given away at Camp Commander. They will go to the XK that travels the longest distance to the event. Everyone keep track of their mileage.

Pre run pictures here (http://www.xk-forum.com/showthread.php/741-Camp-Commander-Pre-Run!). I'll post the coordinates as soon as I get them off my GPS that camp site is nailed down and I think it will be easy enough to get to.

Also...if you plan on buying a Belly Guard anytime soon go ahead an order it. The rocks can be a pain to avoid. My cats got a pretty good dents/scrapes.

Ok here is the Grid to the camp site n 35 24.273 w 080 04.272 If you put that in google earth it take you right there.

Have fun in your cabin :) I don't play with google earth to much either. Just look at the map from the links in the first post and you can see were the camp site is.

Are you guys meeting at the outpost on Friday for a meet-up?

I was thinking we would have some set meet times at the out post for people that might not be able to find the camp site. I would like to customize the schedule based on peoples travel plans.

I'll be in Troy on Thursday night, maybe even early evening. According to Google maps/earth, my cabin will be roughly 25 minutes from the camp site. I figured we can meet for breakfast at the outpost and get everyone together on Friday. Something like that.....

We can do something like that. As soon as people start posting there travel plans it will be easier. Because I don't want to spend all day at the outpost waiting for people. I'd rather have meet times so in case people can't find the camp site you will have a back up to meet me somewhere.

OK guys were only ten days out so I need you guys to start posting your travel plans and estimated arrival plans. I was planning on getting there Wednesday night but I think I'm taking my son with me so I might just get there Thursday morning instead one less night in the woods for the boy. So post up so I can finalize the meetup times at the outpost for anyone who might need it.

I'm hoping to get out of here by 8am Thursday morning. Its about a 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive for me. Right now, I'm thinking of finding my way to the camp site without help, if at all possible. So, hopefully I will be there by 1:00, set up camp, then take a nap. :)

Sal-XK
05-09-2011, 05:56 PM
Neil and Caleb are both of you going to try to make it to camp first? If so based on both your travel plans I'm thinking if either of you are still not there by 1400 I will go to the Out Post and sit there. How does this sound? So if by 1400 you haven't found the camp just head to the outpost its a BP gas station on 109 you can't miss it it's the only one out there.

A note about the sticker. We only ordered enough to cover the people who said yes or maybe to coming. So if someone wants more I'm sure more can be made but you will have to cover the costs. sorry about ordering so few but these Events get expensive for us even before we pull out of our driveways. I mean we probably have easily over 100 bucks in just stickers and shipping so far not counting the other stuff.
