Paris Hilton charged with felony drug possession

Paris Hilton was charged Monday with felony possession of a controlled substance, reports CNN. She is set to be arraigned Oct. 27 in Clark County District Court, according to courthouse spokeswoman Jillian Prieto.

But a legal expert tells the Los Angeles Times it might be tough to prove the case. And Hilton's lawyer issued a statement on Monday saying we shouldn't "rush to judgment."
You've probably heard the story by now, but Las Vegas police do a great job of telling the story.
After Paris Whitney Hilton and her boyfriend Cy Waits were pulled over in the Cadillac Escalade they were driving, they were taken into the Wynn Hotel because she was "extremely embarrassed" by the gathering crowd and she had to "use the bathroom badly."
At the hotel, Paris needed lip balm, so a policeman handed her a purse and out fell "a small bindle" of cocaine. There was also a "broken tablet of Albuterol" -- a prescription medication used to control wheezing -- in the bag and Zig Zag wrappers, commonly used to roll marijuana joints.
Paris admitted the Albuterol was hers but she said the cocaine was not and claimed the purse was not hers -- that she had "borrowed it from a friend." Paris also said that cops several cosmetic items in the purse, along with $1,300 cash and some credit cards.
