Is there a link similar to the "active topics" link on the other forum?

If you look at the top left, you will see where it says "New Posts". I think that is what you are refering to. Its basically the same thing as "Active Topics" from the other forum.

Ah! Ok, so it'll include any threads with new posts not necessarily only new threads, got it.

I like the "black stealth" background by the way, nice feature that not many other forums have.

The "What's New" button will take you to all the new posts since your last visit as well.
