Have you found a cool App for your smart phone? I know members have found apps for GeoCaching, Mapping and MPG monitoring, what have you found and where did you find it (links okay)?

I have an Android phone. (Evo 4G)

First and foremost, you need this app: http://www.androidfreeware.net/download-barcode-scanner.html

For anything I'll post from here on, you can use your downloaded barcode reader app by using its camera mode to take a shot of the black & white block of squares. Those are called QR codes. The bardode reader will recognize the code and take you directly to the app in the Android Market. It will work right from the screen you're looking at right now.

I'll start off with a very cool app called Ulysse Gizmos.

Very cool music player. Your album art is on a spinning cube much like the spinning desktop cube in Linux's KDE. You spin the cube to find your album. Side swipe the dots under the cube to switch to artist, song, or album search mode.

The app has an upper case 3 for a name, and is otherwise hard to find in the market.

GPS Test. I like this app because it has a speedo with huge numbers. The same screen also has altitude and heading, all easy to see from a cell phone holder. Shows what GPS sats are above, and what the GPS receiver is using.

Realcalc

I've tried 'em all, this is the BEST calculator on the market. Also does conversions. Easy to use buttons etc. Looks like a real calc when you have it on the screen.

https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2010/10/chartchtqrchs135x135chlmarket3a2f2fdetai-1.realcalc%26referrer%3dutm_source%253dandrolib%25 26utm_medium%253dpage%2526utm_campaign%253dandroli b%2520page

Google Sky Map. An absolute MUST HAVE app. Hold your phone up like a bar of soap, and it shows you the sky. It works like magic.

https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2010/10/chartchtqrchs135x135chlmarket3a2f2fdetai-1.stardroid%26referrer%3dutm_source%253dandrolib%2 526utm_medium%253dpage%2526utm_campaign%253dandrol ib%2520page

Tricorder. As in a Star TRek Tricorder. Makes the use of about every sensor in the phone. Very cool app, and has actual use such as an audio db meter.

https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2010/10/chartchtqrchs135x135chlmarket3a2f2fdetai-1.tricorder%26referrer%3dutm_source%253dandrolib%2 526utm_medium%253dpage%2526utm_campaign%253dandrol ib%2520page

Mr. Number Caller ID. You agree to give it permissions to use your phone's contact list. It reaches into a zillion other user's phones to root up the incoming number. Makes 411 services look pathetic, and just about produces all info on who calls even if it's a telemarketer with obscure numbers.

Ultimate Stopwatch. Gorgeous looking analog stopwatch on the screen. Has countdown timers, lap timers, etc. etc.

https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2010/10/chartchtqrchs135x135chlmarket3a2f2fdetai-1.ustopwatch%26referrer%3dutm_source%253dandrolib% 2526utm_medium%253dpage%2526utm_campaign%253dandro lib%2520page

Call Meter NG. Logs your data, SMS, and calls. Give it a billing start date and quota, and it will show the percentage of call time, SMS's left, and data used in your billing period.

https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2010/10/chartchtqrchs135x135chlmarket3a2f2fdetai-1.callmeterng%26referrer%3dutm_source%253dandrolib %2526utm_medium%253dpage%2526utm_campaign%253dandr olib%2520page

Easyether. Tethers your laptop through the USB cable to wireless connect. This is the ''lite'' version. (To see if it works with your phone or not) You can buy the app for $10. After the trial is over, just won't connect to secure sites. (https: sites)

for my droid-

Advanced Task Killer - manually closes selected programs when not in use

Lookout - anti-virus

United States Constitution - has the entire constitution as well as a number of historic speeches, Articles of Confederation, history behind the constitution, etc

Voice Recorder - great for quick voice notes or documenting a situation.

Colornote - a notepad app

Right2Bear (had to pay $3 for this one) - can look up reciprocity information on concealed carry permits by state - it does leave out some info, mostly pertaining to non-resident permits, and open carry

And a couple sound board apps - Homer Simpson, Evil Dead (Bruce Campbell), and Samuel Jackson

edit: I now also have all the free ones Adondo listed. I like the Tricorder!

I spent a few days with Jay at SEMA and was inpressed with the ability to find local food just by asking for a certain type and then GPS to get there.

My kids got me a Sprint HTC Evo for Christmas. So I downloaded most of the apps that you mentioned here, Adondo.
This phone is pretty amazing.

Here's a few more nice and FREE apps.

Hybrid stopwatch. Cool retro graphics. Also has a countdown timer.
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/04/searchqpname3Acomhybrid-1.stopwatch

Yellow Pages. The best I've found so far. I uninstalled a couple of others because this one blew them away.
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/04/chartchtqrchs400x400chldQ0chlhttp3A2F2Fw-1.com%2fw%2fsearch%2fqrlink%3fappcode%3dyua%26dwni d%3d31298883

Go SMS. (Text messaging) Makes the built in SMS app look pathetic. It may pop up something about downloading the pro version, do it! It's free too, and has a lot more features.
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/04/chartchs225x225chtqrchoeUTF8chlmarket3A2-1.mms

Radio Ball. A game where you direct a rolling ball thru a tunnel. Nice 3D effects and graphics.
https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/04/chartchs225x225chtqrchoeUTF8chlmarket3A2-1.radioball3d

On edit... I just copy the QR code image location... I can't help the spastic sizing. Sorry. :)

Ship Combat. (The old Battleship game)

I'm going to do links this time.

This one is a handy 1x1 clock widget. I've never seen the point of a clock taking up 50% of the screen space. This black faced clock is easy to see despite it's small size.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.Ardchoille.Apps.BlackClockWidget

Alarm Klock. Has a better looking notification bar icon, and more features than the built in alarm app.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/alarm-klock/com.angrydoughnuts.android.alarmclock

Aix Weather widget. A MUST HAVE weather widget. It's a 1x4 widget that shows the upcoming WX 24 hours ahead, and at a glance.
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.veierland.aix

Dawn to Dusk. Handy 1x1 widget that shows the sun/moon rise/set times and daylight/night time remaining.
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jtb.d2d

Evernote. We use this one at work. Everyone here, from Android, Blackberry, and iPhone users can update our company's note files. We use short notes as job info, how we setup wiring in a dispatch center, and a thousand other things. Keeps things organized, and anyone/everyone can update the database from anywhere there's internet service. Worth its weight in gold.
http://www.evernote.com/about/home.php

Batterychecker. A battery gauge widget that looks like a fuel gauge. Clicking the widget pops up analog meters for more battery info.

Not just for smartphones... but I use Dropbox.

The #1 thing I use it for on my phone is putting pictures on my PC's. I just put the pictures in the dropbox and they're instantly available on any PC that i installed dropbox on. Saves the time of hooking up the phone via USB or emailing them to myself. Works with all file types.

If you use my referral link you get an extra 250 MB of storage space for free: http://db.tt/JivAJ2x (i do to, so i'd appreciate it if you used my link :))

I already have drop box. I hardly use it at all.

Edit: I should say that for what drop box is it works well you can share any size file of any type of extension doesn't matter what it is. I have the SM on there and used it to get a buddy a video so it does work

I've used the "public" folder in dropbox quite a bit too. Like if someone asked for a quick pic of something on the commander I can take the photo with my phone, drop it in the public folder, and then paste the hyperlink in the thread. No need to upload to photobucket or upload as an attachment.

I just bought the smittybilt inclinometer (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/vehicle-clinometer-tilt-meter/id308949901?mt=8) for my phone. First impressions are pretty good I like the you can choose your max angles and set an alarm to sound when you reach them. I'll have to let you know after its trail tested to see how it worked out.

That's awesome. Looking forward to a trail tested review!

Hey sal, we should set up a shared dropbox folder. Everyone who's invited will have instant access to pics we take while wheeling.

I purchased my phone yesterday, when it gets here I can start adding these cool apps.

I have an SmittyBuilt inclinometer in the garage to install when I get around to it.

You have instant access to my pictures there on Picasa (https://picasaweb.google.com/101314420126623053328) I think you can subscribe to the user and get updates by email when new photos are posted I did that with Don. When he uploads photos I get an email and a link to see them. I need the URL for all my photos so I can post them as well. Drop box is ok but it uploads slow or slow to me. For sharing files or if someone wants a video I took to down load then its perfect.

I just installed this one. CCW-Concealed Carry 50 State $1.99

You can enter whatever state(s) you have concealed carry permits for and it will tell you where you're good to go! Obviously you want to verify with each state you may be visiting, but this seems to be good info and up to date.

This may not be worth it if the Senate passes and Obama signs a House passed bill into law that will allow you to travel to any state as long as you have a current CCW in your home state. Sort of like if you are married in one state and you travel or move to another that state will recognize your marriage. Although, getting a Democrat controlled Senate and a gun hating president to pass it are easier said than done.

I'm not holding my breath for national recognition; but if it DOES happen, you would still need to know the local laws.

Just like driving, every state has their own laws that you must obey when visiting that state.
