I know I need to upload some pic's, I never got around to getting a photobucket account yet and have been busy & I know I need to do this. I have done so many upgrades on it & want to show off too. I do have all the pic's on my Facebook so if your on my friends list look there for now, if not hit me up & I will add you in the time being

Beats me, sounds like you wheel the sh*t out of the Jeep and I'm a picture whore. Sal can probably help, he got mine up when I first tried.

I love wheeling this Jeep & get a lot of looks with it when they seeing it come down the trail. The main reason I got this was to be able fulfill all my family needs for us & to take out & wheel it. Evereyone thinks I am nuts because of it; and the truth is they are RIGHT hehehehehehe. I do love wheeling this jeep.

Maybe this might help to understand me a little bit. I have very limited mobility in concern with walking, so in turn I can not ride a bike or walk more then maybe 20 or so ft with out a lot of pain. With that being said unless it was on a road which I could take a car I was not able to see the sites. Now with building up Happy Jeep (My XK's Name) with the mods I have I have been able to see alot more & love it. Also allows me to take my son to see things I normally can't take.

Download Picasa (http://picasa.google.com/)

It's great for photo management. (I have about 15,000 in mine) Upload your camera right into it with the import button. Select the photos you want posted by clicking the green pin icon in the ''basket" then click upload to send them to your free Picasa account. Be sure to pick the ''for web posting" option so people don't have to suffer with gigantic photo downloads. :)

From your Picasa account, get the photo on the screen, right click and select ''copy image location" then past that long string of characters into the photo link tool in your thread post window.

Yea yea I know. I have been really busy at work & just got my account with photo bucket setup last week & still have not had time to upload pics to it. I will try this weekend. Can't during the week because of how work is right now & then I have a VERY active 2 yro that will not let me out of his site when off work.

As you can tell in the first pic, it was completly stock. On my trade in for this was my 2003 Chevy Avalanche Z71 and I had AT's on that, so part of the deal was to have them swap out to the jeep for me, they were 265-70/ 17's ProComps AT's

The next pics is after the tires were swapped out & on my way home with it. First jeep I have ever had so had to see how it does; where I live this was it around the corner from my place.

When I took PJ wheelin a few months ago he really enjoyed it. Plus he loves it when I played the you tube videos from all of you guys with the XK's along with our new friends the WK's; some of mine as well. So now when I get home from work he gives me a big hug & puts his hand on my chair & says (Daddy Down) then points to my laptop & says "Doot Doot" he way of says jeeps or cars. When ever he sees a Modded Jeep & only with Modded Jeeps he will point & say Doot Doot. lately he really has enjoyed watching Top Truck Challange on 4 wheel TV on Youtube, and I will hear him say "uh oh" when a jeep is stuck or you hear it break, its so funny.

Sal trust this he will before long, he is very smart and both my wife & I are both deep in the IT field so he is a geek in the making. At work now & can't upload any right now, but will be doing more tonight. I still need to upload more pic's to photo bucket & then on to here.

Yes I do know it has been forever & needed to do this just been to busy & lazy to be honest lol

Lol dude that's awesome. My son is 21 months now And when I get home its the same thing.... he runs over to my recliner and tells me forcefully "dit down" (his S's are D's right now). Then he'll climb up on my lap to watch videos.... he LOVED the camp commander vids. Also likes when I mess around with my 3D design software since I can rotate things and change colors etc. Its really a lot of fun when they're interested in what we're doing. But we better enjoy it while we can...... wont be too long before they outgrow that. Im hoping that wrenching and wheeling keep a solid bonding "interest" between us.

You know that you can post images directly from photobucket without using the forum "picture" button right? All you have to do is copy and paste the link from photobucket that contains the IMG tags: {IMG} pictures link {/IMG} but replace the { } with [ ]. You can also do it manually and just type it like I just did.

M3 Converable (Stage 2 Race Setup)
CL55 AMG (Stage 2 Race Setup)
2011 Q56 (Stock)

So as you can see I do enjoy being able to play with some really nice cars.
My dad made it a hobby to collect these.
The daily driver for my dad is the Convertable Jeepster (Full Factory Resto & all #'s matching for the Jag, Both Jeepsters, and the Ford PU)
For my Stepmom is the M3
The Bentley is a Blast, the power that W12 has is just nuts 500+hp AWD Twinturbo 6L

Well the garage is caught up now and have an early meeting

Why'd you go with the green? I would have went with the yellow to get the best brake performance. Benefit to the green is reduced brake dust, but at the sacrifice of performance....

Picked up a set of 5 Rubi take offs for 300. Having the rims swapped out now. They are off of an 2009 JK Rubi. The guy said he took them off right after buying it new, so no marks on them. Leaving stock color for now. Trying to decide to PD or PC or just paint them.

Will post pic later today or tomorrow latest.

Yes. I was at a dealer that was selling a set of Moab take offs and on the inside of the wheel was stamped the same offset as my oem wheels. But you have to run some sort of spacer for them to fit due to the lip on the inside of the wheel

pjmjr508

Yes the same bs as our oem ones so still need the spacer but now no more bent rims on her.

I pulled this out of my tire lastnight.
I it made the tire go flat in under a min & it had pierced the tire in between the lugs in the tread not the sidewall. Went to get fixed per my road side serivce that came with the tire. The tire place said it can not be fixed & that I need a whole new set of tires for 1600.00. They are telling me that my tires will be off by 3 to 5 /32's and because we have a AWD that a whole new set is needed.
I know with in reason they are correct but not to the point I need a new set. Have had these tires less than a year, what a Crock!!!!!!

Matt
12-22-2012, 07:17 PM
Ouch! Thats some bad luck... that thing had to hit the tire just right to cause a flat.

Side note... $1600 for tires? What the hell kind of tires are you running?? lol

07JeepXK
12-22-2012, 10:37 PM
Yeah really?? My 33 inch MT/Rs were only $1200 and if you were running MT/R's that would have never happened. Kevlar FTW!!

superacerc
12-23-2012, 07:04 AM
Find a real tire place that can shave the tire. Just buy 1 new one and have them match it to the others.

Ive shaved my bfgs smooth again cause they were getting tough to balance. They are perfect now.

pjmjr508
12-23-2012, 02:48 PM
I told them no & said to warranty out the one that popped. It was @ Les Shawb tires. The tires were close to 300 each, Copper Mt's. I will look into shaving it down to match the rest.

07JeepXK
12-24-2012, 08:59 AM
$300 for a Cooper MT??? Wow next time go with MT/R's which are cheaper and a better tire. You wouldnt have had that problem to begin with!

pjmjr508
12-24-2012, 02:43 PM
my next set will be either durtracs or MT/R's not happy with the ones I have, plus having a wheel weight pop my tire does not make me feel confident with the tire strength.

2 days ago I ordered a bunch of items for the XK.
Full OME HD Setup Springs, Struts, Shocks
Adjustable Trackbar
Strut Spacer 1/4"
JBA UCA's
Locking console.

I will be painting the Struts, Springs, Shocks, Trackbar, Rear diff cover, and the strut tower red to match the XK
I will also be taking the custom spacer made by Matt & using that with the rear springs.
I will also be Plasicdip the moab's black with a red ring. I also have a set of red lugnuts to put on.

With the XK being Red with limo tint it should look great.

it's going to be a lot of work, but feel it will be well worth it.

pjmjr508
02-17-2013, 02:30 AM
Completed on first day;
Front Springs
Front Struts
Strut Spacers 1/4"
JBA UCA's
Pass Side Interaxle Seal
Front Diff Service
Transfercase Serivce
Cleaned the CAI & installed the Procharger Cover
Painted the 4xGuard Rear Diff Guard
Painted the Strut Brace under the Hood
Changed the Engine Oil
Removed the Front, Transfercase, Belly Skid to pound flat & repaint before reinstalling.
Replaced the lugnuts up front with the red ones I have.

I think that was a full day, will finish up all tomorrow what is left on the todo list & then take it in to get the aligment corrected.

The remainder of the to do list;
Change sparks plugs
Install the rear springs & shocks (also install Matt's custom rear spring spacers)
Install the adjustable track bar, then center the rear diff.
Replace all the broken plastic rivets.
The Rear Diff Serivce
Reinstall the Rear diff guard, along with the strut brace.

Also wanted to say A big thanks to 1USMC from TX he is up here working in Seattle right now & came by my place to help me get this work done. Love this group

07JeepXK

If you don't let the front end articulate a little and settle properly before the alignment it might be off a little once it does settle. You should be fine though

Is Jon hoping this will take some fab work load off his guy, or do you know if he's still going to develop his hidden winch bumper? I really want a new front bumper, but its got to be a hidden winch style like the south african bumpers.

Did he try mounting the winch feet forward to reduce the height needed for the cover? Only downside is reaching underneath for the clutch release... but most winches have power reverse now.

I agree & that's the plan.

One of the major changes he did was went with a thicker steel, part of it is that he knows me & knows I will really test his bumper lol. He also wanted it to be a cleaner look follow the lines better. We had changed directions part way thru while making the last one, so that was part of it.

Sadly although still fun the subie has the small turbo back in it. I sent the new one off to have it checked when it wasnt making proper boost on it and they are sending it to my new address cause they took their sweet time about it.

Turned out my rod bearings were dying and holding the engine back and limiting boost production. Two days after I got the turbo out to send off the tapping started and the rod bearings let loose.

Long story short, my subaru now has a built block rated for 500+ hp but im running a tiny snail sized turbo on it until my normal one comes back. Probably only making 230 to the wheels. Still fun but its no lamborgini chaser at the moment.

Ya I thought you had mentioned August B4. I don't have August's schedule yet either so the same holds true as B4... I'll keep my fingers crossed and keep everyone updated.

Nice. My 3000K fogs look awesome but my 6000k HIDS are flickering and not turning on so I ordered a relay.

Let me know how you make out

Got an email back from them saying that they have included the relay harnesses for both kits & they also have a lifetime warrenty on the kits.
Will update with pics when done. This will come in about the same time that the bumper will be completed with the bumper & its lower skids.
Can't wait.

some minor fitting of the skid & the bumper is left and then it will be ready to be line x'd. Also the locking setup for the winch compartment door needs to be fab'd up, that will be done on the next dry day off we get here in the PNW.

Thx guys, I love it as well.

Here is some specs you might be wanting on it. The bumper & skid weighs in about 100 lbs. The Winch cradle & a winch with 85 ft of cable weighs about the same. With the OME HD setup I do not even feel it. Its also about 1/2" farther out than OEM bumper.

I will be taking the bumper off on the next dry day to drill a few drain holes in the winch cradle, it appears to be pooling water there from the rain. I will take some pictures of the winch cradle at this time. This is what you learn from R&D testing as everyone knows. Will be taking it offroad within the next few weeks for testing. If we find any weak spots we will correct it before it is available to the public, this one will not fall off. A friend of mine on Camano Island has trees on his property that I can hook up with a tree strap, that will allow me to drag the XK with the brakes applied. As well as testing the d-rings. Promise to take videos.

Over the last few weeks I have done a lot to the XK. Have been sick, so I haven't posted a lot.
Replaced the BJ's in the front Upper & lower CA's with MOOG.
Replaced the inter & outer Tie Rod Ends for both sides.
Replaced the inter & outer CV boots for the driver side.
Replaced all the bushings in the Front Diff,
Bent my Gas Tank Skid away from hitting my rear drive shaft.
Installed 6k HIDs for the lowbeams
Installed 3k HIDs for the Fogs
Re-centered my Roofrack. I have the unistrut cross bars setup as Sal did & after maybe 6 months the roofrack had moved from center to the right side. I will be fabing a way to lock it in the center.

Whats left to be completed over the month or so;
Front bumper is completed & Tested
The replacement Skid for the A/C lines that run on the underside of the XK
Front & Rear Pads & get the rotors turned
New Tires

MODS I still want to get done with in the next 6 months;
New Rear Steel bumper being Fab'd up
One Off Snorkel
Replacing the front & rear fender flairs with steel (will look similar to factory)
Adding push bars with a step to my 4xGuard Rockrails

It has been a while since I have updated my garage with resent pictures.

The winch is out of it as it went dead last week. I have a replaced one in the back to be put in tomorrow night.

Well after 2 years since a drunk driver totaled my G35x and put me in a wheelchair for a month, I should get a check with in 3 weeks. I got the go ahead to take part and do some MODS to the XK.
I have $5k to play with. What I want to have done within that budget is;
SL 4" (Thru SA)
I want the RCV Axles
12 bolt Cover
34-35" tires ($1k right there alone)

I can not wait. I would love some input or thoughts or concerns someone might see I don't

Matt
07-30-2014, 07:09 AM
With everything you have listed that should be a bit under 4k right? I'd look into coilovers for the front so you can adjust the ride height more easily for your bumper/winch weight. .... maybe consider coilovers & upgraded rear shocks and save the RCVs for a future update to stay under the $5k budget.

lekmedm

With the Superlift, you should also budget for:

adjustable rear UCAs (Rusty's ~$250)
front drive shaft with double cardan joint (Carolina Driveline ~$350)

With the standard SL, I'm not so sure you'll squeeze 35s in there without some nice trimming.

I agree with Matt, set aside the RCV money for now.

pjmjr508

I have broke the Aftermarket & OEM Half Shafts already a few times. Plus if I don't get the RCV's now I will not have that much money at one time to get them at a later date.
I am still looking into getting the 5100's if they become available in time & if I do have the money picking up the JBA 6" rear coils to make it a MOD SL lift from A 4" to a 6" lift.
I already have JBA UCA's & the adjustable track-bar installed from when I installed the OME HD lift with Struts & Shocks along with the Springs.

I will pick up the Rear UCAs & Drive Shaft, Thanks for the heads up

Thanks for the input & keep it coming as I am still trying to put this together the right way.

my wife's cousin built it for me. He does fab work as a side biz. He just finished with it this month and now he will have to redo the front skid to the bottom of the bumper as the SL I will be throwing on with in 30 days. If you are serious about the bumper I will ask him on what he wants to see them for.

OK a few questions;

1) Since the 5100 Struts are not available yet can I setup the front end with the OME HD Strut with the SL Strut spacer with a 1/2 coil cut off of the OME HD front springs and still clear a set of 305's? I was offered a smoking deal on a set of 305 MT's with only only a few k on them as he will be upgrading to 37's.
I will have the JBA 6" springs in the rear. Also Will have the OME HD rear shocks still until I do pick up the fox shocks that were recommended to get for the MOD 6" SL Lift.

2) Do I have to have the Aftermarket Front Drive shaft & UCA's in the rear as soon as I install the SL or can I pick up with in 60 days from the install with out messing up anything on the XK?

As I signed for the check today & was told I will have my money a week from Wednesday & plan on ordering everything that night. This is what I plan on ordering then:
4" SL
RCV Axles
6" JBA Rear Springs
Both Front LCA's
the New 12 Bolt Rear Diff Cover

Stuff that will need to get within 60 days of the SL install:
Front Driveshaft (Carolina Driveline)
Rear Adjustable UCA (Rustys Offroad).

I can't wait until this is installed as I have a big trail run on OCT 4th and can't wait to have fun with it. Then the XK will be parked for 3 months in NOV as I will be having foot rebuilt & will not be able to drive for 3 months.

Those OME rear shocks are going to top out on every bump with 6 inch spings in the rear.

You don't need the front drive shaft right away but it will be a good upgrade when you get to it. As for the rear upper control arms it all depends on the rear pinion angle after the 6 inch springs are installed. It should be fine without them until you decide to order them

Thank you for the information. I have been going over the old threads on here about 6" MOD SL & about the FOX shocks that Matt has. I would love to do those but from what I am seeing that it is $700+ for a set of 2. That will be something I will do at a later date. I saw the Rancho being discussed but could not tell if they would be good for a MOD 6" SL and either I missed it or there wasn't much else offered. Is there anything else that fit the bill just not so much money?

I agree with Adam, but will add 2 things you should do ahead of time. Before you install the lift, 1) measure and take pictures of your current rear pinion angle as a reference and 2) check that front drive shaft CV joint at the TC to see if the boot isn't torn (and joint failing). I went a few thousand miles before I replaced the UCAs and DS.

06JeepXKHEMI

You dont have to go with the remote reservoir Fox shocks like Matt did, I had the longer Fox shocks in the rear for a 4" lift and loved them! I paid around $300 maybe less for the pair and got some great flex out of them. Ill try and dig up some pics of them flexed out with no rear sway bar. Id definitely go that route, if I could afford the Fox shocks now they would be on my Ram..

Matt suggested to go with a longer shock than the lift was for, I suppose with intentions the rear would be lifted higher at some point. I was running 4" lift shocks on the OME HD so I had enough flex without a sway bar in the rear my spring would almost fall out! I suppose a 6" shock would be good but guess it wouldnt hurt to get some extra flex out of a longer one, are you going to be running a sway bar in rear???

Thanks guys for the info.

Since it looks like the 5100 struts are still on back order and will not have them before I get the SL installed.

Matt can you confirm this for me-
If I do use the OME HD Strut & coil up front with a 1/2 coil cut off it & put the SL strut spacer should not make to the front to tall to ruin anything until the 5100's come in?

What I did was use the OME HD springs with one full coil cut off. I used everything from super lift up front except for the pre load spacer. If that helps.

It'd do what stites-xk did... one full coil off and no preload spacer.

Also, my reason for longer shocks (28" for 2-3" lifts and 31" for superlift+) is to maximize rear end travel. A few minor mods usually need to be done in addition to take full advantage of the longer shocks, but they're minor. Check brake and sensor lines at full drop, gas tank skid clearance, etc. And check for tire clearance under full compression; add longer bump stops if needed.

07 No preload spacer works great for me.
Matt thank you for the info.
The brake lines & sensor's mount I will have checked & Modified if needed when installed.
The brake lines will be replaced with in 6 months with the new steel braided ones from crawl offroad for lifted XK/WK's. They are $255 for the full set.
Already did the gas tank skid MOD and already did extend the bumpstop (will check again once lift & tires are put on) to ensure tire clearance.

I have been looking for 31" shocks for the rear that I can afford other than the fox ones you have, what other ones would you recommend?

Having the alignment rechecked tomorrow.
Issues I am currently working on.
Once the front passenger side starts to flex the DS hits the gas tank skid
DS Ujoints are whistling and the rubber cover on DS was ripped off when it tagged the gas tank skid. Need to replace the Rear DS, will be looking at Carolina DS or NW driveshafts here in town and going from there.
I went to test everything out on lunch at work yesterday by hitting some mud puddles at the water next to work and now my ABS & BAS/ESP and the TC lights are on. These are the codes it is throwing C1015, B1630, U0415. Will be pulling the front tires on it tomorrow to see if I see anything.
The knocking sounds was the Pas rcv axle & will contact them tomorrow. When the shop swapped it out with the OEM one the intershaft was seized unto the RCV axle. From my understanding it took the mech 45 min with a deadblow to get them apart. The OEM one was put back in & goes in out & out with no issue. The RCV axle came apart when it was being removed as well.

Items still need to do
Swap out the rear diff cover.
Get new front DS
Rear adjustable UCA's & LCA's

I have had somewhat lifted rigs in the past, this is the biggest I have ever had so still learning. I know there are things that pop up when you MOD a rig, but this is getting annoying. It seems like one thing after the other. Once all is worked out, all should be golden.

Didn't you install a rear adjustable track bar? How bad is the rear pinon angle? You having any issues running the OEM axles? Two of the codes makes sense to me if your axle was binding up real bad. C1015 is wheel speed sensor correct? U0415 has something to do with the ABS correct? If that's the case and that tires was way off on reading because it was binding up it would throw codes. Not sure but that's my best guess right now.

Sorry man, I changed it so they would show up as normal like the other pics you posted. So we didn't have to click on every single pic that opens a new window. It was working not sure what happen. I put the pics in individually now so they should show up. It's not posted like your other pictures but their view-able. If you want me to try and post it like your other pictures let me know. Again sorry about the mistake.

No worries, if something you see needs to be corrected, go ahead it is ok with me. Just in this case the correction came back with an error.

Yes on the adjustable trackbar, I have bent edges away from the tank skid & once it stops pouring rain I will work on adjusting it away from that skid.
Did not look to bad to me, tomorrow I will take & post a pic of it.
I put the OEM passanger OEM axle back in & it works great.
The codes only came on once I hit the first large mud puddle, mostly water and that was after I put the OEM one back in. Here is what trips me out, my 4lo still works with the Service 4WD System error displayed.

Also once it stops raining I am going to pull the front tires and get a better look at senors up front.
When I had this lift installed, I also had them on the front install new LCA's & Wheel Hubs & 5100 struts so with the lifts provided knuckles the entire front end suspension is new.

I look it like this, I need to get all the kinks & bugs out now so when I hit the trails I will have no issues. I just hope I can get all resolved before mid next month for when I park it for 3 months.

I would check all connections, make sure nothing is maxed out, stretched, kinked etc.. I think Sal may be on to something as well,, but since lights came on after OEM axles went in is weird.. Im sure its probably something simple, good luck!!! At least that thing looks sick now, straight BEAST!

Your pinion angle looks fine in those pictures.

If you do end up getting adjustable rear upper and lower control arms I'll be more than happy to buy your Superlift rear lower control arms from you.

Sorry, but that rear angle looks lile crap, just like mine did. Look for a thread titled something like warning to superlift owners started by Matt.

Sent from wherever my Jeep takes me.

EDIT: Here is the link (http://www.theultimatejeep.com/showthread.php?2458-Warning-to-those-with-Superlifts).

How does that rear angle look like crap. The ujoint is at almost a perfect angle to the pinion flange. Unless it's a bad picture or something that looks to be fine.

From my understanding and I don't due axles so just from what I've read. Is that the pinion angle is based on the type of connection at the TC. A regular U joint the pinion needs to be parallel with the TC. If a double cardon it needs to point towards the TC at a certain angle. So if you have a u-joint you can't just point your axle up to reduce the angle at the pinion.
