Flagpole Knob is located in the George Washington National Forest, along the border of Virginia and West Virginia.

From Briery Branch Dam, travel west on FR 924 for 4.5 miles to the top of the ridge. Turn right and continue 3.1 miles to a grassy opening on the right. Use caution on this road; during winter months it may be impassable.

Here are things to do in the area.
Fishing Plenty of area lakes for trout fisihing. 1 day licenses are available on line
Hone Quarry Recreational Area (http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/vbwt/site.asp?trail=2&loop=MNR&site=MNR04)is located along a beautiful trout stream. In addtion, there is a small lake which is stocked with trout for fishing.
Hiking - Dont get lost
Boats - In the lakes, horsepower restrictions.
Camping: At the bottom of the mountain is Hone Quarry. It offers fee camping ($5.00 per night) No Facilities other than a dirty pit toilet.

hone quarry camp ground
nw on 257/Briery Branch Road Hone Quarry Rd. Right on Hone Quarry Rd. there is a big sign.

This is not far from the Flagpole camp. Hone Quarry rd dead ends a couple miles up, but it is a good drive, Plenty of road to explore. There is an area further past there that sits on a creek bank. It is a nice place.


I'm going to try an lighten my load on this trip LOL not sure if thats possible bringing the fam with me LOL.

I think thats were we got those fireproof logs across the street right. That is correct! I have the phone number to order some slab wood.
