I know it is a long shot, but if anyone is upgrading an old pair, or is selling their Jeep and can get away with selling them and replacing it with the plastic ones. I would really like a set, and this is the only way that it will fit in the budget. Got a wedding to pay for and a kid in Daycare so its this, or fab my own, and that won't be very pleasing to the eye.

If you plan to fab your own I suggest buying a set from trail-gear.com. I modified their 78" to fit my Commander. Took about 2 hours and they were done. I've hit them hard many times with no issues. Too bad they aren't on sale anymore, because I got mine shipped for what they are selling for now.
They aren't as sexy as many of the others out there, but I prefer they way they mount over the others I've seen. You won't lose clearance, because they don't hang below your subframe.

Thats a decent price thats not bad at all. What did you modify on them?

You need to shorten them by 6 inches. Then I welded on tabs so it can be bolted to the pinch welds. Next weld plating to subframe and finally weld the cross bars or make a bracket so they can be bolted on.

Did you box out your sub frame rail with steel right there. I think I asked that right.

You absolutely should plate the subframe, because if you have a major impact it could go right into the subframe. You only need a plate about 4 inches larger that the cross tube. It'll help carry the load incase of impact.

I did not do mine, as my sliders should up in ups as I was packing for West Coast Camp Commander #1. I forgot to order the plates and didn't want to wait. Shame on me, but they have done exceptionally well.

I have seen 1 brand of XK rocksliders fail on the trail. It uses nutserts to attach to the rocker panel. It happened on p@55w0rd's XK at Badlands 2 years ago. The rocker took a hit, up went the slider into the bottom of his fender and door. This company is out of the making sliders business. I believe the cause of failure was the small nutserts and poor design combined.

Ya I heard about that it was a shame. I might have to wait till winter when i get my welder so I can do my own work and save money.

Hey can you post pics of this on how you modified or attached them so I have something to work off of. My posts keep getting deleted, but I really appreciate you giving me the heads up on these rock rails.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I've been busy the last few days.

Even though it is tough to see in the pics they do not hang lower than your gas tank skid or my 4xguard belly I have.

I shortened them in the middle as you can see in the pics. It closes the gap between the center bars nicely.

I bought them on sale 2 summers ago for $99 plus shipping of $52. So for just about $160 (paint, mounting tabs and grade 8 bolts) and about 2 hours of work I have a very functional set of rockrails that I have put to the test on Colorado, Michigan and Ohio trails. They may not be as pretty as others on the market, but I can tell you they are just as tough, if not tougher.

Hey I cant thank you enough, I really wanted to get these, and that looks to be something I can do myself. I am not overly concerned on looks, and IMO they look really good, especially compared to what I would be fabbing up.

thanks again

Ill take them, for $175.00 and we have a deal. I dont think it was the site deleting my posts, its the network or my laptop at work, I was posting them but they would dissapear as soon as they posted. It was weird, maybe everyone else could see them and I looked like an idiot.

Curious on what you are willing to pay for sliders? I have the 4xG sitting in my shop. I don't wheel as much so I took them off since they were rusting. I'm in STL as well.

So you have the older ones before the new finishing techniques? Can you post pics so I can see the extent of the rust.
