So today I passed the local jeep dealer and saw a JK that was already lifted with 35's seemed to be about a 3 inch lift. It was an 07 2DR with 42xxx miles for 19000. It had a rear bumper also. It did have some underbody rust as expected and the shocks were rusted pretty bad. In other words the lift will need replacing. The Rims were the AEV and it had Dick Cepik tires that were pretty bald and would also need replacing. I'm in the same situation as sal was in. Ive done so much and just completed a few more mods and upgraded my whole sound system. As much as ive always wanted a wrangler im finding it so hard to let go for this. I think ive decided to keep the commander and in that case im getting a tire carrier made this week. Here is the wrangler http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&csDlId=&csDgId=&listingId=66888948&listingRecNum=34&criteria=prMx%3D20000%26sf1Dir%3DDESC%26prMn%3D0%2 6mkId%3D20021%26stkTyp%3DU%26mdId%3D22306%26rd%3D7 5%26crSrtFlds%3DstkTypId-feedSegId-mkId-mdId-pseudoPrice%26zc%3D60010%26rn%3D0%26PMmt%3D1-1-0%26stkTypId%3D28881%26sf2Dir%3DASC%26sf1Nm%3Dpric e%26sf2Nm%3Dmiles%26rpp%3D50%26feedSegId%3D28705&aff=national

That thing sounds expensive for all those issues. By your old lady a wrangler or wait until you can have both the XK & JK I think like me you would of serious issues letting you XK go

100% agree.
Actually from what was described I wouldn't even bother with that Jeep. Get a stock one and modify it yourself.

Its very rare that people take in modified wranglers.... makes me even more skeptical. Its like a cult....

Well obviously you dont know much about wrangler values if you think its worth 10K at most. Do me the Honor of finding an 07 for under 15K.

Wrangler resale values are off the chart. Finding a 07 for under $20k would be a challenge. But rust bald tires and such is probably what drove the price down and I don't think it's worth it. I'd rather spend a few more dollars and get one the might be better taken care of. there aren't many for sale around me only a hand full 2007 and up for sale.

Dude are you kidding me? Unless that's a mint condition Rubicon (which its not in good condition at all from what you described) its not worth close to 19k.

A good condition Sahara blue books around 14k. So yeah, if its a Sahara with rust, beat shocks, worn tires and a lift (decreases resale value BTW regardless of what people want to believe), then $10k sounds about right.

So before you spout off that he doesn't know what he's talking about, how about more details? Sahara, Rubicon, trans, options, paint/body condition, etc?

I'm envisioning a pretty beat up Sahara. Was it regeared for the 35s?

Edit: based on Sals post (and the fact he was recently in the market.....lol) maybe the values and availability of wranglers varies a lot more by region than other cars. Around me they're a dime a dozen and a few sitting on every lot. I guess if they're hard to come by in some areas the dealers are able to drive up the price.

I just did a quick search and found 17 2007 wranglers for under 19k in my area. A handful were below 16k.

LMAO dude if your werent in the rust belt I'd go wrangler shopping by you. Very few lots have a wrangler by me and even less newer than a 2007 and no used rubicons for sale either. With in 40 miles of my house all three jeep dealerships only had one rubicon a piece and those were 2011's and one was a 2 door. I think area has a lot to do with it. I spent days searching by me and had to go down to 2005's to get around $20K.

You might want to check some out man. We really don't have that bad of an issue with rust in this area..... its not until you get up into northern NJ and the NY region.

it does depend on the area. Take a look at a search with in 100 miles of my place.

With the search being
Wrangler 2007 and newer
max price 20,000
4x4
v6 motor (to rule out the 4 bangers)
this is what I came up with.

I know right? it's not from a lack of trying though I'll tell you that much. I tell here everyday I want to move to AZ LMAO. Also keep in mind the X starts at $25K new so 3 years old depending on how you look at it and he's only down $10k still not bad.

Please find me an 07 with 42000 miles 4.10 gear ratio 35's with around 25% tread left on AEV rims with a back bump and full 5th spare no body rust. THE ONLY REAL RUST WAS ON THE SHOCKS! It was a small company lift id replace instantly anyways. If you live in arizona dont comment there are so many and they are cheap out there and good condition but im not traveling hundreds of miles let alone thousands. If i was willing to id find something WAY better but as far as within 25-50 miles of Chicago it wont happen. Not with power window and all the stuff too. Before you go sharing prices do some research on how they are set up. Hard top, soft top, X, sport, saraha, rubicon, gear ratio, and everything else because sure I could find one set up thats a stripped down one. Soft top, 3.21 gear ratio, no power windows, the crappy stock tires and rims, and everything else cheap...

All you told us was 2 door with 42k miles, rusted frame, shocks rusted to hell and bald ass tires.

Then you jump down that guys throat when he tells you its not work $19k. Well. from the information you provided, its not worth 19k. Almost all of us (maybe sal wasnt looking hard enough because deep down inside he didnt want to get rid of his XK) found 2 door JK's that more than fit your description for thousands less.

Give us some real specs and we'd know if its really worth 19k or not, but don't get all mad and tell someone that they

Now if you'd like to provide us with the necessary information to get a better handle on the value of this specific jeep, we'd have more to talk about.

Is it listed on the dealer website? Maybe some pics?

And again, those wheels/bumpers/etc dont add anything to the true value of the vehicle. They're only worth something to someone who wants that exact setup. So if its worth $19k to you... then go get it :)

NEVER once said the frame was rusted. I said it had some underbody rust. I did NOT say underbody was rusted out. I said the SHOCKS were pretty bad that it. Also i did not say "Bald as hell" I said pretty bald and would need replacing. And the ones you have found were auction vehicles with inconsistent mileage readings... You can buy a car like that but I never would. I didnt say it was in bad condition at all... If i did why the hell would I consider it. The only thing that was in bad condition were the shocks everything else was good if not great. The body didnt have a scratch on it. Well here are the specs then: 07 or newer, power windows and locks, 4.10 gear ratio, 35 inch tires, Rims as nice as AEV rims, and hard top with 42000 miles or less.

the pro and con list is a good idea only you know what your needs are. I want a JK pretty bad but it can't fill the need my XK is filling right now which I was reminded of when I went to the beach last weekend no way in heck was a JK getting my family and all are crap out there. You can also ship a vehicle across the country for around $800 so finding one $6k cheaper in AZ and having it shipped to you is still a great deal and having a vehicle that didn't spend 4-5 years in chicago winters is another plus.

Well im starting my first year of college next year and its 7 hours away the added gas mileage would help and also I love the amount of mod possible and how cheap things are for the wrangler and especially the whole ability to have no doors and top. Its just ive done so much for the commander its like my heart and soul.

If I were you I would wait bro. The weather you have up there your only good for being door less like maybe 3 months out of the year LOL. 7hrs in a JK with the old interior might not make you happy. Do you know what your plans are for after college like what part of the country you will be living in? Keep the XK pay it off if you owe money on it at the very least it should make a huge dent in trading in on a newer JK which by that time the new engines will be used and a better used jeep can be had. The 70HP increase there getting in 2012 is a pretty big deal if you ask me and it comes with better MPG's then the 2011's.

Well I will be in missouri for the next 4 years with much better weather down there. After that im not quite sure I would either go back to chicago or else move on to arizona. Most likely the decision would be made depending on where I find a job. The xk is paid off but I just feel like it keeps dropping in value so quick and I should get out what I can now and get a wrangler that will hold its value much longer.
