Who can explain what quick disconnects are, what they disconnect, why they help, what else if anything has to be modified to have them, and anything else about them I don't even know enough to ask about?

I have JKS Quicker Disconnects on the rear of my XK. Basically a quick disconnect is a modified sway bar end link which easily disconnects by pulling a pin instead of having to unbolt the entire end link from the vehicle.

The swaybar (or anti-sway bar) helps stabilize the vehicle's body in relation to the suspension. It's attached to both chassis rails and connected to the axle housing using swaybar end links. The swaybar's spring steel construction allows it to resist vehicle body roll during cornering. On the road, the swaybar is critical to proper vehicle handling and control. Off-road, however, the swaybar counteracts the suspension's ability to function independently of the chassis, thus preventing the tires from maintaining contact with uneven terrain. Unless equipped with a locking differential, engine power is transferred to the tires without traction and the vehicle is unable to continue forward progress.

well put xk

once you disconnect your sway bar your axle will have a greater range of motion, it is critical that you test this out first to make sure you aren't rubbing your tires on the body anywhere.

i found an old loading dock to check my flex and clearnce when i changed from 33" to 35" tires...

the front was ok since i have tube fenders the rubbing didn't matter

but in the rear it was going to ruin my tires

i trimmed the armor plating to give the necessary clearance, but for a nice rig i would suggest limiting the uptravel with an extended bump stop up top.
