Bank Holiday in Lieu of Battle of the Boyne Holiday

This symbolic important battle is best-known battle of British and Irish history. It is still commemorated today by Orange Institution. On this day the Irish men wear orange sashes and black suits and bowler hats. Protestant Irish march with drums and pipes. Orange Day celebrations are also celebrated in Birmingham and Liverpool and in some parts of Canada.

People in NorthernIreland annually celebrate Orangemen's Day to commemorate the Battle of Boyne.

It is a bank holiday onor after July 12 and often features marches.

This day is known as"Orangemen's Day", "Orange Day", "the GloriousTwelfth" or just "the Twelfth".
