Glad we made it up for the day...sorry we couldn't stay longer - but hey, it was worth spending 17 hours straight in the XK, not sure the kids agree though :) Hope you guys have a great rest of the week.

Looks like a good turnout thanks for posting some pics for us.

I want to start by thanking all the members who were able to make it, the turn out was great and it was great to see so many friends again and too meet a few new ones as well. Members in attendance included:

1) Bjamrow
2) Brendon (+3)
3) HueyPilot (+3)
4) Knappster (+1)
5) Ped (+1)
6)RockyMountainCanary (+3)
7) Strokez (+1)
8) TrialByire (+2)
9) Tymac (+3)

We were able to cover many of the trails and on a couplke occassions split into dierent groups so that those who wanted to try some of the more difficult trails were able to do that without others being too concerned with trail damage. There was minor damage to a couple of rigs but overall things went very well and all members, their families & frineds and all XK's got through the event in one piece.

If awards were to be given I think I would get the one for the most breakage and thankfully it was all minor; I lost power to my radio (no CB communication), tore the coolant line off for the back heater allowing three gallons of coolant to escape, flat tire, tore off a grounding strap & lost the top bolt in a rear shock.

Many of us arrived at the Buena Vista KOA on Sunday night and other arrived Monday.

https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/07/3231-1.jpg

Monday we ran two trails, most members ran the Fourmile Area in the morning for a total of 25 miles with a second more difficult trail in the afternoon called Chinaman Pass (I am sure members will tell their stores as soon as they get home and setteled in).

Tuesday was a real long day (trails take twice as long as the book says) and we coved four of the trails in one trail ride.

https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/07/3281-1.jpg

The first stretch of road took us down the highway to the ghosttown of St. Elmo, from there we hit the following trails:

https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/07/348-1.jpg

Tincup Pass Trail; 12,154 feet / 12.4 miles

https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/07/367-1.jpg

Cumberland Pass Trail; 12,015 feet / 15.7 miles

Alpine Tunnel Road; 11,597 feet / 9.5 miles

https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/07/423-1.jpg

Handcock Pass Trail; 12,140 feet / 9.3 miles

for a total of approximately 45 miles

On Wednesday we deceided to take on a trail that the USFS indicated was CLOSED! The Mosquito Pass Trail is schedualed to open mid August but we will all be long gone by then so we thought we would head up there and look at it and see what could be done.

I took many photos but they are on my cell phone, I will upload them when I learn how and I am sure many others will post theirs as well.

Mosquito Pass Trail is the highest pass accessable by motor vehicle in the United States at 13,186 feet and the trail runs approximately 16.7 miles.

Have a safe ride home. Great job organizing, Jon! The family and I had a very memorable and enjoyable time, and this is one newbie that will be back next year!

BTW, I made good use of the air kit that Huey put together after my run of Grizzly Lake on Thursday. It worked great!

And now for more photos.

Got Home last night (Sat). Was good to see you all again and meet a few more people. We had an awesome time. I was too tired to organize any photos so i just dumped everything i had so far to the following link. THANK YOU to Bills grandson for taking many of the photos on Chinaman. I handed him my camera and and he fired away while we navigated the terrain. We have tons of awesome video too, but it will take while to get it all ready to view.

I have tons of pics of all the members on the trail taxing their XKs!

https://theultimatejeep.com/images/imported/2011/07/IMG_9864JPG-1.jpg

Trialbyfire's group and My brother and I, made it all the way to Grizzly Lake. it was a pretty crazy trail. Once we got there, they went back down and we climbed (not hiked) to the peak of the mountain along the lake. We made the climb to the peak up and back in 4 hours and 15 min. It was a butt kicker to say the least, but we made it up and back with no injurys.

Here are a few of the "Jeep portion" of the climb. I am glad Trailbyfire was there to vouch for how steep and rugged this was. The harsh winter seems to have really ripped the trail up.

Comparing the quality of my pics to Ped's I really wish I would have brought my Canon I used the last 2 years. The first one is a teaser. I started working on a videography of pics taken during the trip. Got tired last night, but I'll finish it tonight then I'll start working on combining the videos taken during the Mosquito snowfield crossing and a couple of vids from Chinaman Gulch.

If you used restricted music in your video youtube will drop that portion of your video or drop the entire audio for the video. Some music can be inserted and youtube puts a link to purchase that music by your video. My last video I lost 3 minuets of the end because I used Zac brown band on the end.

I had some videos from last Flagpole and I got a warning from youtube that I had used copyrighted material in my video and the video was not accessible.
I had no idea what they were talking about so I went and watched my saved copy. The mic had picked up music
playing on the radio and I guess they thought I was pirating it. I used thier link to replace the sound with something else.
