My first Jeep was a '99 Grand Cheokee which I loved dearly until it was rear-ended and declared totaled. After that we got a '94 Cherokee Sport which I drove for a year then gave to my son for graduation. I bought the XK last June. I have to say that the WK and XK are similar enough in comfort on- and off-road, owner demographics, and obviously mechanical construction that I think this is an excellent idea. Forge ahead!

I like xk-forum.com and was thinking of something in addition to it, I really don't want to kill a good thing before it gets rolling so playing with xk-forum right now is not my intention.

I learned today that using it on twitter and facebook posts helps too.

I guess if your trying to get a more general forum that would appeal to more people you would also expect that forum to splinter off into smaller sections kind of like Jeep forum which shouldn't matte its the amount of members that would drive the add money. Well, ask your self this then, What do all OHV, camping, exploring people across all manufacturers of vehicles have in common with each other? Answer that question and you have your self a good start to a new forum. I also belong to a few forums but I belong there for a reason something drew me in like I followed Don over to expeditionportal.com because that type of camping interests me. One way to make money on this site would be put the adds back on. I have a Google add sense acct it don't pay much but it adds up.

Don't forget the free annual credit report is from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp NOT freecrditreport.com, or whatever their calling themselves now.

I feel your pain. The wife uses the cash envelope system as I described and I use the modified system as follows: I use my debt card for purchases (I run it as credit to avoid the fee) so that I can fill up completely and then when I get home I take the amount of money needed out of the gas envelope and put it in the envelope of cash to be returned to the bank account, that keeps my budget on track, the envelopes correct and allows me to fill up.

If the gas comes to dollars and cents I always remove the cash in full dollar amounts and round up as a way to save a few penny's for future budgets.

I also have a secret coin jar that I will discuss more in the future.

I really hate paying for my gas in cash. IF you like to fill up which I do then you go in stand in line pay for your gas go back out put the amount in and either go back inside to get your change or drive a way with less then full tank which means you will be doing all again a little sooner. Oh and today after I paid they ran out of gas so I had to go get my money back drive to the next station and start all over.

The payroll deduction is a great way to build the emergency fund, soon you will forget about that $50 and the fund can grow uninterrupted. Thanks for pointing out that great tool, I will be sharing more on payroll deduction in a future blog as well.

Wow that's awesome about the AC unit! While I haven't started the whole process yet, yesterday I added an allocation on my paycheck. Now every 2 weeks, payday, $50 will go into my credit union account as an emergency fund. This account has only had $5 in it as I needed an account when I financed the XK. Now it'll actually get used for something.

That is good news, now you need to take at least one of those credit cards and cut it up! I would normally say cut them both up but to even get one would be good at this point and you said you only have a couple hundred to go.

My wife and I did the snowball payments, and it worked great. We have 2 CC that we use and only if there is enough to cover it when the payment is due. Both of these cards have only a few hundred dollars each left on them. We weren't in debt as bad as some people. The plan worked so well we close on our house Dec.3rd. It also brought our Credit scores up alot into the low 700's..

Disney World is a blast, we have been there twice and still never got to everything. Are you staying at the park? The girls are going to love it, but make sure you and the wife get to Pleasure Island one night (we hired a babysitter through the park who watched the kids in our room while we went out).

Funny to see this, as we leave for Disneyworld on Wednesday! The girls will get to do Halloween at the Magic Kingdom which should be fun for them.

I wish I could say we were only spending $300. (round trip plane, 5 nights lodging, 4-day park hopper pass...)

I sent you an e-mail with the budget worksheet, make sure it does not end up in your spam folder. Since you are the first to request it please let me know that the size works as an e-mail attachment. I will provide more budgeting tips over the next few weeks.
