They have a distribution center here in Arizona too.
I think their skids are more targeted towards rally style / desert / dunes type of offroading as opposed to trail riding & rock protection. Aluminum doesn't do so great sliding on jagged rock with 5000 lb coming down on it.

How much weight savings is there really? Guys here are mangling thick steel skids (belly guard comes to mind)... an AL skid of the same thickness would get trashed quicker so it either needs to be thicker or have more reinforcement which cuts into the weight savings.
If anything I'd think corrosion resistance is a bigger benefit especially for a trail rig that you don't clean after every run.
I guess someone needs to buy some aluminum skids so we can compare. :)
It depends on which blend of aluminum you use. At the same thickness it can be twice as strong as steel. But that is really expensive.
