I am still thinking about doing the flares with bed liner, I sure have enough left from the gallon. Two issues concern me. First is taping the chrome bolts, (anyone know if they are real before I use a hex head and break off a plastic one. The second and bigger issue is that they are not scratched and bed liner is forever, ( or new flares)

Is anybody willing to Photshop this picture with bed liner on the flares and on the lower door panels below the chrome strip. That might push me over the edge.

Update: I posted the link because of a question about how to fix some bumper damage.
The fender flares did eventually get coated and the front bumper replaced. I also got a rear tire carrier. The regular forum members already know about these mods, but someone reading just this thread might not. Here are some updated pictures. If you do not have pictures, it did not happen.

I recommend that you do both the spray and the roll on with the texture roller. The spray does a better job of getting into the corners after using tape to protect the area that does not get bed liner. The spray does not give a good texture and does not give as good of a color coverage because of the effect of drying. The liquid roll on will finish the coating with good color consistancy and an actual texture and depth. If you look back at the pictures you will see what I am referring to.
I got the bed liner at Walmart. I think it is Dupli color but I am not sure. I do know that it is the only brand that they carry and it comes in a spray, a can of liquid and also they have an application kit with a handle, tray, and texture roller. Also be sure to read Post #46 to see why you need both the spray for the edges and the liquid with the roller for coverage. If you got a bumper from Ross and you paint it before you install it you might get by without the spray can type. I used self etching gray primer because I was first putting it on a plastic bumper. On the GL bumper you can use what ever type of primer that you choose.

I wonder if the 3M brand spray on bed liner would have done better. It seems to be a higher quality and you can get it from most auto parts dealers. I used it on the underside of my 66 F100 and it seemed to have a nice textured look and was pretty even. Of course it is underneath where the light doesn't shine on it too well so maybe it wasn't as nice as I imagine it was. I had the interior of the truck sprayed with rhino lining as well as the bed and they both turned out pretty well.
