lol looking nice and dirty. I don't want to wash my XK right now but I am going on vacation all week down the shore so he's gotta look all pretty :P
I have to find a deal like you did on this skids!!
Don't worry.... I'm OCD too. Mine even gets waxed once in a while!
My Jeep gets washed once/twice a week outside, depending on what I do and weather the inside gets once a week or every other and waxed usually once to twice a month.. I used to details cars from middle thru college, all my cars are always clean.. No point dumping $$$ we do into our cars and not take care of them
I do a pre & post winter wax and wash when I have a chance.
The once a week washes stopped as soon as my first kid came along. The once a month washes stopped after the second kid came along. Lol
Same here! Lol
I always do complete details once a mth and while we are on the topic what you guys consider a "complete" detail hahaha.. To me its wash, scratch/imperfection removal, wax, polish outside, complete cleaning of engine bay, shampoo/degrease interior and leather conditioned seats and like I said this is once a mth minus the engine bay cleaning..
I don't go that far.... wash/wax outside. Shop vac entire interior and then get all of the surfaces with an interior cleaner/protector. But I like the inside of my vehicles to be free from clutter/crap other than things i consider "necessities" (like flash lights, multi-tools, etc)
I do take it to extreme but like I said I put a lot of $$$ and time into my ride regardless of what it is so I like to take care of it..
Yeah I don't do that much Andrew but I do pay a friend of mine $80.00 to do everything you just mentioned; I get this done about twice a year. He spends about 6-7 hours doing it and I am too lazy to do that LOL
But I totally agree with you on taking care of it especially with all of the money we put into it.
EDIT: My friend I speak of details cars for a living at a Honda Dealership.
I like to think I take care of mine.... lol im not exactly letting it rust away. I spent a good hour underneath cleaning every nook & cranny; I focus on the mechanical stuff more than the paint (but dont neglect the paint). For example about twice a month all my my bushings and boots get a dose of silicone spray to keep them fresh.
You'll have to show me your routines for this I may start if I continue to offroad every few months.
Hey Andrew, I have some serious ware in my seats. Now I don't have the limited so only the trim of my seats are leather. However, the center part where you sit are bolster and have some crazy ware for only a 2 year old truck. Since you detailed for a few years do you have any idea what it may cost me to have them repaired to look new?
I also have some serious scratches on the plastic inside the XK....it drives my OCD crazy and I cannot get it out (either could the detailer...unless he slacked)
I enjoy the detail process and dont trust anyone to do it for me haha.. This winter will be very hard for me, I think Ill be at the car wash, rinsing and rinsing away..
Depends on the wear, post some pics I can tell you what can be done if anything. Is it cracked, scuffed, worn off, discolored.. Some of it can be taken out with a good leather conditioner, stay away from anything that leaves a slimy feel as it usually isnt condition much, Meguiars has some decent stuff but do some research on leather conditioners, some good stuff out there..
This is the only pic I have right now but you can kind of see what I'm talking about

If you are referring to the creases in the base of seat, get yourself a good conditioner and work it in those creases, it will prevent it from cracking.. Also condition seat stitching to prevent it from splitting. the wear on the dash shifter bezel there isnt anything you can do and scratched plastic as well next to replacing it..
What I was referring to with the seat stitching was condition it, lexol has a decent product but do some research, I like a thick creamy conditioner that your first apply, let sit for a while and wipe excess off..
I'm busy catching up. Looks good! I always liked the Green.
Gave the XK a bath yesterday and thought Id give some advice to everyone.. If you havent washed out your radiator front to back and side to side I strongly suggest doing so.. Im not talking about the coolant but actually spraying water thru the radiator from the front and back. I did this after whispering pines for obvious reasons but never mentioned it on here, you'd be surprised the amount of dirt/mud in it. Just some more friendly detailing advice.. Also I realized I never posted pics in here of my dads ZJ which now has over 260k, here is a photobucket of it while in Fla

I grabbed a bottle of the lenox and I plan to use it this week. It says to spray on a cloth and wipe seat, let sit for 15-20 and wipe excess....seems pretty easy. I'll let ya know how it comes out ;p
I would follow directions on whole seat, then spray a decent amount on the cloth again and work in circles one stitching, trim and areas of concern, dont be afraid to be generous you will simply wipe off whatever the seat doesnt absorb.. Let me know if you have any questions
Just lenox'd the passenger seat. I didn't realize how thick the substance was ;p
Yea thats good, how did it come out?
It seemed to go on nice but is there supposee to be a visual difference? :p
Not really a good conditioner should leave little to no "shine" but if you did one half of the seat and not the other you would see a difference.. After a few applications the seat will feel softer..
Yeah im going to do all of the seats tomorrow. How often should I do it? Its very quick and easy lol
Doesnt matter, you cant really over use, your seats just wont absorb it and youll be wasting product, I do my fronts every 2 weeks and rears maybe once a mth since they are never used, this is because its summer, heat and sun the winter wont need as much... I like over doing it keep that in mind
Yeah that doesnt sound too bad. I will do the rest of my seats today and again in a few week. I am no detailer but my OCD kicks in big time with cleaning my interior ;p
Besides the way back because thats all set up for the dog so its always dirty.
Just finished installing Andrews Mopar gas tank skid and transfer case skid..
Thanks to Adam I have my gas tank and transfer case installed..
