I would love these with the resi.....maybe after I start the sheriff academy
I couldnt justify the extra cost, not with the wheeling I do and no towing or steel bumper
Im still waiting to hear back from JBA if the resi version can be ordered with the adjustable damping control... that would be awesome; possibly the best "all around" shock. Keep it soft on the street and crank them up while offroad. :)
I was speaking with my Dad yesterday and he was wondering if these will give any additional lift in the back? I assume no but if mine are shot it would sag a bit correct?
Are you able to compress them with your weight?
Bad shocks dont cause suspension sag. Bad shocks accelerate spring wear which then leads to sagging. With your OME HD springs you probably wont see much of a change if any from the gas charge.
They are pretty stiff, barely can compress them with my weight but they do compress eventually.. I wasnt expecting them to gain lift but Ill run some measurements to be sure.. Also Ill be taking some flex pics before and after to show difference, but keep in mind I have my sway bar intact now and then I wont..
They compress slow due to the valving, but the extension force they exert is considerably less than your weight. You're a strong guy... how much can you raise the back of your xk via dead lift from the hitch? You wont see any more of an increase than that.
Given the OME HD spring rate, and assuming each shock puts out ~150 lb of force id expect less than 1/4" increase to static ride height. Looking forward to seeing what actually happens though!
Dont forget to post some pics in the shock thread. :)
Ill take measurements to be sure.. Ill start a thread now in the shock thread and update that when I install them.. Saturday is going to be a great day, shocks, rotate tires, diff service, diff guard sand and clear coat, catch can install and MAYBE oil change.. My XK is probably the reason Im single, dont have time or money for anything else!! Matt where do you order you diff fluids from, whoelsalemopar?
I use AMSOIL. Dont forget the friction modifier.
Side note, I just remembered the rear springs only have a 280 lb/in rate. The fronts are 630 and therefore would be unaffected by the pressurized shock. Take some good measurements and ill be able to figure out how much linear force they actually have. If they are 150 lb then you might see close to 1/2".... even at a 15 degree shock angle. And 150 lb is possible if the piston diameter is 1" given a 200 psi charge. Oooh man now you have me curious. :)
Whats the OD? I couldn't find dimensions online... a .8" working diameter brings it down to 100 lb force..
