A bumper update.
Still have to get the fog lights cut in & also some other minor items and then it will be ready to drop off to get line x. then get it put on & then work on the front skids that go with it, then a rear bumper. It will be a busy year.
I was going over some paperwork today & it just hit me that in Nov. I will have had this rig for 2 yrs. A lot has been done under 2 years & more to come. Other than the upgrades I have put 40k on the clock (crap that's a lot of gas LOL) & many more to come as well.
Bumpers looking slick man!
I'll go ahead and pick up that bumper when im up there. Wouldn't want your gas mileage to get too terrible. Lol
Getting close. Looking forward to meeting up on the 4th or 5th.
Ill have eveything. The xk will be pulling my 66 ford and my mom is driving up my subaru.
Sadly although still fun the subie has the small turbo back in it. I sent the new one off to have it checked when it wasnt making proper boost on it and they are sending it to my new address cause they took their sweet time about it.
Turned out my rod bearings were dying and holding the engine back and limiting boost production. Two days after I got the turbo out to send off the tapping started and the rod bearings let loose.
Long story short, my subaru now has a built block rated for 500+ hp but im running a tiny snail sized turbo on it until my normal one comes back. Probably only making 230 to the wheels. Still fun but its no lamborgini chaser at the moment.
Understand, it will still be great to see all the rigs in person.
Let me know when you know you will be in the area.
We'll be there the evening of the 4th and will have the 5th and part of the 6th in town before the ferry leaves. Plenty of time to meet up somewhere. That's a Thursday night to Saturday morning.
Great I am off work on Thur & Fridays.
Where you pick up the ferry is not that far of a drive from & you will enjoy that ferry ride.
Sounds good. Cant wait to head that way.
Ooos sorry. I meant 2nd and 3rd of August. Thanks.
If I am working that day, I will be off at 5 so will be able to visit & hopefully USMC1 can join us.
Its still a Thursday to saturday. I just had the wrong number.
I have ordered these tonight
OPT7 Premium AC CANBUS HID KIT H10 3000K Yellow Xenon Light Conversion
OPT7 Premium AC CANBUS HID KIT 9006 6000K BRIGHT BLUE Xenon Light Conversion
Plus they will be sending the relays with them as well.
Got an email back from them saying that they have included the relay harnesses for both kits & they also have a lifetime warrenty on the kits.
Will update with pics when done. This will come in about the same time that the bumper will be completed with the bumper & its lower skids.
Can't wait.

I will be putting together a bumper thread on my day off.
I have not installed the HIDs yet, will do soon. just trying to get the bumper done first. Then it is trail testing up in the woods, this should be fun.
Man if that goes in production that's a game changing bumper for the xk platform!
Glad everyone likes it. I'm loving it, and it will be available soon via SA. Also he is making more items for the XK platform.
Bumper turned out great, now we need one for the wk platform!
some minor fitting of the skid & the bumper is left and then it will be ready to be line x'd. Also the locking setup for the winch compartment door needs to be fab'd up, that will be done on the next dry day off we get here in the PNW.

Thx guys, I love it as well.
Here is some specs you might be wanting on it. The bumper & skid weighs in about 100 lbs. The Winch cradle & a winch with 85 ft of cable weighs about the same. With the OME HD setup I do not even feel it. Its also about 1/2" farther out than OEM bumper.
I will be taking the bumper off on the next dry day to drill a few drain holes in the winch cradle, it appears to be pooling water there from the rain. I will take some pictures of the winch cradle at this time. This is what you learn from R&D testing as everyone knows. Will be taking it offroad within the next few weeks for testing. If we find any weak spots we will correct it before it is available to the public, this one will not fall off. A friend of mine on Camano Island has trees on his property that I can hook up with a tree strap, that will allow me to drag the XK with the brakes applied. As well as testing the d-rings. Promise to take videos.
