EVAP Leak Haunting....
So as many of you are aware, I have been having a "Check Gas Cap" warning w/ Check Engine Light coming on over the past 3 weeks now. First stop was a buddy who smoked it and seen it was leaking from the gas cap? We replaced the gas cap but it came back on. I then took it to the dealer and 3 hours later they found a small leak coming from the EVAP canister? And quoted me $310.35 to replace w/ parts & labor.
I decided not to pay the cost right then and there and take took the XK home. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Can I get this fixed for cheaper?

Is the canister metal or plastic? JB Weld covers a MULTITUDE of sins... gas tank weld oughta do the trick.

That I am not sure of. I have the 5.7L so im not sure if anyones knows if its plastic or metal?

Are they referring to the charcoal canister? If so I replaced mine after sinking the jeep in a creek. Cost about $100 from the dealer and took 10 min to replace.

It's plastic if it's the charcoal canister

I am not sure. The dealer write up says replacement of EVAP canister. $310 for parts & labor. Any idea if I can buy the part elsewhere and put it on? Not trying to spend $300...

Do a google search real quick, I just did and a bunch showed up.. Its the canister behind the drivers rear tire

SOUNDS like a $20 junkyard piece!

Yeah I am going to look around. I have my buddy who has a shop looking for me as well. My inspection is due by the end of April which it wont pass with this.....sucks. Definitely dont want to pay $310 lol no sliders if thats the case.

Like I said I paid around $100 for that part from the dealer and installed it myself in a few minutes. I'm sure you can even find it cheaper than $100 and do the install in your driveway. It's easy
