My question, does the stock replacement add any lift, or is it a different part number?

My question, does the stock replacement add any lift, or is it a different part number?
yes. I got about 3/4" from the stock replacements with my 2" RC. Part number 58646
do they make a front shock to go with the rear? like what sthe monroe shock to go with the rear? i suppose you could run the load leveler in the rear and a jba/rustys strut spacer in the front
They don't make a shock that raises the front. The rear are designed to help when loaded/towing by using an integrated coil spring. This also helps with sagging issues (why I installed them).
Here's the thread: http://www.theultimatejeep.com/showt...Shocks-on-Rear
I did this a month ago...the rear shock.well worth it especially if you tow
anything.
Thanks for the info, another question is there any adjustment in the coil overs on the shocks? Im worried it will be too high in the rear and my extra 1/2" spacer in the front wont make up for it.....
Edit: right now im sitting @ 34.75" in front and 35.25" rear with just the daystar lift.
No, they're not adjustable. Look at the pics in the link I posted. The stock replacements don't jack the back up that high...
Just got them installed, I now have a clunk sound from the right rear, it makes noise when the spring/shock is unloaded, just wondering if what direction everyone put the "slot" in the top mount at? doubt it has anything to do with it but.... BTW i got about 1/2-3/4" front this.
Which ones did you put on? The stock replacements or the longer version?
Check to see if the rubber sleeve slid down on the shock. That happened to Sal and it was causing some noise.
I used some Gorilla Glue and electrical tape (to hold it until the glue dried) to make sure they stay up.

Going to give it a look, thanks for the help
just gave it a going over, best i can tell is the shock im using on the right side isn't made exactly right, the cup(for lack of a better word) isn't seating right against the upper shock mount and is bouncing around, I put some heavy bearing grease on the seat and that worked for about 4-5 bumps then it came back.... so im just gonna get them warrantied and get try another set....
That little silver cup on top came unseated on mine during install and I didn't noticed untill Toby saw it on the trails we just popped it back in.
When I installed mine Monroes, they did the same thing. The little cup that Sal and you mentioned had come unseated and the coil was in a funny S shape. I didn't realize it until I drove around the block and it rode rough. Since I already had my shocks on, I fixed them while on the vehicle.
If you take a long, small diameter punch and insert it in between the coils where it won't slide out. Then push down hard on the end of the punch close to you. You'll see the coil go down some and the little cup slide down off of the top part. You don't need it to go down much. Then take a big hammer and give it a few taps. It should pop back in.
Sal, have you noticed a better ride since we fixed yours? I know I did when I fixed mine.
Well the new shock fixed it.... If you have a lifted commander then you need these shocks...
Cool. Glad to hear you're good to go!
Well.... it started clunking again.... hell if i know whats going on, anyone have picture of the upper shock mount (body), also im wondering if have a lift kit is extending the shock and taking pressure off.
Is it just doing going over bumps and stuff ?
Well there not totally quie just quieter now LOL. I put a heavy bearing grease where the spring was rubbing the shock that helped. Then I got the top seated properly finally and that helped as well. They still make noise back there not sure why but it's not loud enough to bother me to much any more. It could be because there longer the axle can move a lot more maybe not sure. I'll have to get a pick of the top mont for you.
I ran the stock replacements for a while and have the longer version now... never had any clunking.
Take some pictures of you shock and both mounts for us.
Can you take one looking straight up the shock? Trying to get an idea of the clearance between other parts and the position of the top mount / bushing

The only other thing that comes to mind is the rear daystar lift..... If it was it though i would think i would be able to move the spring by hand. The reason i think it could be the spring is the new shocks did raise the rear a good 1/2" +. Im going to go fill up with gas and see if that take the noise away, if so i'll go to the junk yard and get a spring....
Well no go on the gas idea....
well im not gonna say its fixed but... the noise is gone. The bottom mount is too big for the bolt so i wrapped it a few times with black electrical tape.... i swear it sounded like it was coming from the upper mount, I even sat in the third row and listen to it..... its little crap like this that will piss you off until you figure it out (fingers crossed).
That's strange... keep is informed..
I'm glad this thread has come back to life. Sal has helped a bit but I have a few questions specific to my setup.
I had originally planned on buying a BL, and cut'n those things up and stuffing them underneath the OME for a modified OME setup... but now I have more options.
I can't remember which one of you has the OME HD or MD set up. Using these Monroe Load Levelers can solve two issues That I'd really like. 1. I want more lift in the rear... NOT A LOT... just enough so that it yields almost as much as the front. I think my current measurements are, (fender to hub cap) 22.5" in front, 21.5 in rear. 2. I think the 21.5 in the rear is due to a loaded cargo, and accumulation of skids and tools i'm slowly acquiring. Will the EXTENDED Monroes Load Levelers achieve this...
And can we differentiate between the Monroe Load Levelers and the Extended Monroe Load levelrs but saying MLL and MLL+ because it is an awful lot to type, lmao.
I'm running the MLL+'s (lol) with the OME HD setup. Perfect....

I think I'm getting these too. The RR shocks have been on for about 3000 miles and something is wrong with them. The bushing failed already and they have a "clunk" like they're not long enough/don't have enough travel. I found the Monroes on Amazon and scrolled down to the comments and low and behold the only comment was from this Sal-XK dude. :)
Ah, OK. I also took a look at your link. See when you look at the accent lines along my Jeep it appears level, but when you look at the Front wheel well vs the rear. It's clear the Front is jacked up more than the rear. I want just as much space between the tire and the wheel well for both the front and rear. If i yielded .5" higher in rear than front as you did, I'd actually be very satisfied with that.
