I run 245/75/17 DuraTracs with OEM wheels with rub only at full lock. I will probably get new wheels with different offset before I run spacers. I rarely full lock so I don't see it as an issue at the moment. I thought with the large tread I'd hit the ball joint bolt but it doesn't touch it.
I'm not running spacers. There are quite a few wheels that will fit... the key is getting the optimal width and backspace.
8-8.5" wide and 5-5.5" backspace combinations are what you want to look for. As you get into the 4.5" backspace or 9" width range you start to run into rubbing issues, primarily with the wider wheels because then you cant run thinner tires to compensate.
If you have a few bucks to spend, Walker Evans makes some nice wheels that'll work. Otherwise just search the standard wheel stores for AR, MB, etc brand wheels with the necessary specs.
I do NOT run wheel spacers. I ran Firestone Destinations AT 255/70/17 on Hulk rims for over three years. I just recently replaced those with Falken Wild Peaks AT 265/65/17 still on the Hulk rims. Neither rub anywhere or at anytime. I have a 2" lift.
Sorry Guys,I should have been more specific - Tire size at 255/75 or 265/70 M/T's at a minimum. Im not going smaller tires when its time to get new ones.
The issue I have is the caliper as well as the rubbing.
My Wheels are 18X9 5.71 back space and +18mm Offset. No spacers. With 4" Lift and pinch weld mods, no problems so far... but not much room to spare !
Wheel combinations you want to look at:
8" wide with 5-5.5" backspace
8.5" wide with 5.5" backspace
Deviations will depend on the level of trimming/rubbing/etc you think is acceptable for your intended driving/wheeling.

You can say that again... I mean im not really in the market now, just trying to figure out about how much I may be spending down the road. Spacers are alright, but now with a little one riding around I would rather them off. Dont get me wrong, my spacers have treated me well...except for 2 years ago when my wheel came off my jeep...Quote:

Being that you have a WK you have a bit more leniency than us XK guys.... but the envelope is still pretty close.
I am getting some Black rock steelies or Yuma's this week, but they are both a 0 offset rim. The Savegre's are a +10 which is as far as I would go if you don't have a SL. I ran them when at 2" on 265/70's and they were a good fit.
I love the look of the Yuma's and the price - Black Rock is a great deal for wheels. If you get either, let us know how they fit. My main concern is the Caliper/Caliper Bracket. I have the pinch weld mod done so Im not too worried about the tire rub.Quote:

The Black Rock steelie weights approx 10 lbs more then the oem wheel so I was told. I definitely noticed a huge difference in weight between my 265/70s on oem compared to 285/70 on the black rocks. Those suckers are heavy!Quote:

Edit 2 - PM'ed him, he tells me he is NOT running spacers as the wheels are 4.5" backspace. Looks like I have some options out there!

I'm running the MB TKO 17x8.5 with 33's now. There was so much rubbing that I had to cut out the rear seat heater hoses and beat the pinch weld as flat as I could. They also took out both my TPMS receivers. Other than that, they protect the valve stem much better than the Pintlers did, and the rims hold up to abuse much better so I don't knock chunks off the bead. As I have discussed in other threads, the XK-version Pintlers had the wrong backspace (5.75") and were bending the tie rods at full-droop and full-lock. The JK Pintlers backspace (5.25" was it Matt?) should rub a lot less, but again, are not really for trail use IMHO. I would say that 8.5" wide with 5.25" backspace is about optimum.
Yup! 8.5" wide with 5.25-5.5" backspace is the sweet spot (5.5" if you want wider tires)
Note that you're talking about tie-rod interference with the superlift though. This is not a concern with a spacer or OME type lift because the tie rod location is not changed in relation to the wheel hub. With the superlift, the tie rod is relocated to remain OEM geometry; this creates a condition where that wheel backspace becomes imperative to prevent interference.

And isn't it the caliper arbor that hits?
Not exactly sure what the caliper arbor is.. Lol but it makes contact with the caliper bracket at a spot that can't be modified or ground down. There isn't much material in that spot.Quote:
