Attachment 2439Attachment 2440Attachment 2441Here it is cut and fitted into the bezel. Next I cut a double din opening in the back to access my deck when the iPad is out.

Attachment 2444Attachment 2445Attachment 2446 I used epoxy to attach the pieces together, then it was bondo time. I spent 6-8 hours on finishing the bondo. Sand and add more bondo, sand and more bondo, again and again.
Attachment 2447Attachment 2448 I used thick fill primer. Primer then wet sand with 600 grit sandpaper. Then primer again and sand with 1500 grit sandpaper till it was smooth as glass.
Attachment 2449Attachment 2450 I had the bezel painted perfect, when I epoxied the bezel to the dash it ran through the cracks and dried on the top of the bezel. I had to chip it off and sand it like crazy. I put the dash in the Jeep just to see how it looked.
Attachment 2451Attachment 2452Attachment 2453 This is how it turned out after the epoxy debacle.
Attachment 2454Attachment 2455 This is how it sits today after cleaning it all up. I'm waiting on a lightning to 30 pin connector, should arrive tomorrow. Once I have it all done I will post pics of it in the Jeep.
Attachment 2460Attachment 2461 Finally got everything done and back in the Jeep. Then I got out on the road and tried out some of my apps. I love how this turned out, it looks factory, just how I wanted it. Minus the cost of the iPad, this mod cost less than $100. But it took a lot of time to get everything perfect, but it was worth it to me.
Looks great!
It does look factory goo job!
Awesome skills!!!
Thanks everybody. I am so happy how this turned out. I'm an Apple fanboy, so I've wanted to do this for a long time. I'm glad I finally got it done, now I'm searching for the next project. I'm thinking CAI and flow master, or JBA UCA's. My Superchips tuner should be here in a week, I should have fun with that.
Turned out sweet!
Looks great man, love the factory look.
Definitely looks stock. Awesome job on the mod :)
Attachment 2515Attachment 2516 Update!!
Well it's been a couple months and I've made a few changes. My 2012 Pioneer Nav unit was not very compatible with my iPad mini. So I got a new Pioneer single din media player, no CD. It works perfect with the iPad. Before the music wouldn't start for 30/45 seconds with bluetooth. Now as soon as you turn the Jeep on music resumes from where it was when I shut the Jeep off. I also did more body work on the bezel, I had a couple areas that bugged me. Very happy how this turned out, exactly what I was hoping for.
