The rubber tip does effect the SWR. I read that somewhere in the FAQs on Firestik's website. I used the NGP mount as well.

IIRC you are supposed to tune with the tip in place. It does affect the SWR. Also IIRC as long as you're under 2 you're OK. 1.5 is better though.
i was trying to do it with the tip in place, just cant seem to find the sweet spot with it on there. gonna try again though. the instructions that came w/ the meter arent as good as the ones on firesticks website.

Well, Firestick worked wonderfully. For those of you familiar with Flagpole Knob, I was at the campsite on the summit and was talking to Cico who was 5 minutes outside Harrisonburg. Not sure how far that is but its a nice little distance, almost an hour drive.

yeah I measured 13 from grocery, takes forever though since you can only drive 4mph up there. We measured 28.5 from Sheetz using a gps.

You can't tune it with the rubber tip in place. You can not reach the set screw to tighten it with the rubber cap on and when you take the cap off, you are likely to move it again. That being said, I am open. Are we talking about the same rubber tip? Post the instructions...
Detroit, I like your mount. Mine is in about the same place.
I will concede:
