I would argue that racking a shotgun is one of the most recognizable sounds in the world. Its the universal, language barrier be damned, sound for "Sh*t just got real!"

The sound of a pistol slide loading a round....meh.

I don't WANT my enemies/home invaders to hear me, and the soft little *click,* of the safety coming off my loaded weapon...
