I had an F-350 diesel. You're right, they suck on the trail. In fact, a trip to Moab with it was what prompted the entire RV redo from that truck and a 31' trailer to the current 40' motorcoach and Commander. The XK has been 10 times the trail rig.

There were times in coral colored Moab sand, that the F-350 spring-hopped across where I really didn't think we'd make it past. Get it stuck, and you have an 8,000 lb. truck to extract. Switch backs were 47 point turns. Of course, it was an extended cab with an 8' box. 5 MPH was max. Any faster and we'd rupture spleens.

I think they have a pretty trick setup with that 250, and I like the 7.3. I know for a fact I would not be able to drive my Commander 1500 miles, wheel 5+ rated trails for a week straight, and then make the 1500 mile trip back home. For a dual purpose rig, it is pretty cool IMHO. The first go around on that truck with the 46 inch tires and 4 inch lift, not a big fan because there was no suspension travel and too much tire, but I like this time around.

I agree with you guys, the f250 is one heavy beast. and im with you AJ, our WK's are a bit hefty, especially if you get really stuck.

Im going to jump on the sammi bandwagon if I needed a hard core rig if jeep wasnt here. But the dual purpose - that f250 for sure...

Lol oh, I thought we were being realistic about what we would actually own/wheel if Jeep didn't exist..... hell I can think of some much sweeter vehicles than a Tahoe and sammi if we're moving this into "dream world" !!
