Kimber is also in contention. I have small hands so it may be fine for me.

I shot a Kimber 1911 and it fit nicely in my palm (small hands too). You will not be disapointed, but they are pricey.

I carry a Kimber Tactical Ultra - love it. It shoots real nice and feels right in my hands. The Ultras all have alloy frames which makes them lighter, but it's still heavier than the plastic guns of the same dimensions. But you can never go wrong with a 1911-based firearm. Mags are 7 round versus some of the other small size 1911's using 6-round mags.

If you have the money, you could also consider the Wilson Combat "Bill Wilson Carry Pistol" http://www.wilsoncombat.com/p_bwc.htm

Well, my wife wanted to buy me a pistol for Christmas so of course I didn't try to stop her. We went to a popular gun shop in Richmond just to window shop today. They had some new Springfield Micro 1911s but they wanted too much for a new one. They had this used Kimber Ultra Carry II .45 . I was originally looking at the Kimber but they are pricey for a new one. I picked this used one up for about $200 less than new. I just need to get a holster now. I need to get a better pic. Here is a better pic.

    Thumbs up

VEDDY nice! I never would've considered an Officer's-sized 1911, until I got my Ultra Covert about a year ago as part of a deal for my POF-415.

Crimson Trace grips are waaaaay too pricey for me, but they come with the gun! I just added a custom Kimber ambi-safety to it!

One of the holsters I use for my Kimber Ultra is the Galco King Tuk KT218B. I also have the Galco Paddle Lite PDL424B. I like both of them.

From what I hear, the Milt Sparks VM2 is THE holster but at $250 and 6 month wait...

ETA: Looks the the VM2 prices have come down a bit

I have a Crossbreed Supertuck for my XD and I ordered one for the Kimber last night. I opted for the horsehide on this one, supposed to be a bit softer. Total was $93. They say 7 business days.

I got my holster in the mail today. Its a Crossbreed SuperTuck. I have one for the XD also except this time I opted for horsehide. The horsehide is supposed to break in a little softer yet it adds $15 to the price. It was $93 shipped. These jeans fit nice normally so they are a little snug with the holster in but I couldn't wait to change jeans. You can see how these holsters really tuck it in tight to your body, well worth the money.
