    Custom Surf Rod Holder

Here is a surf rod holder I made. I used a piece of 1/4 " plate and welded some exhaust tubing on it . I drilled some holes so that I can bolt it on to my receiver rack. If I want to use the rack alone I just unbolt it. My only issue is that I bought the rods after the fact. They are a little longer than the tubes. When this rack was on my Grand Cherokee I drug the bottom coming out of a parking lot. This would have broken the end of the rods probably. Now the rack sits up a LOT higher on the Commander so I dont believe it would ever drag. I am considering cutting off some of the rod ends. They would still be long enough and I dont see any problem doing this. What do you guys think ?

Cutting off the end is a good idea as long as it will not effect your casting ability.
