    Droning sound from front end

    Hi all,

I've been wondering about this for a while. When I get on the gas and the drivetrain is under a heavier load, I have what I perceive as a drone coming somewhere from the front. When I let up on the gas it diminishes/goes away. When I'm highway cruisin' and light on the gas, I don't hear it.

Any ideas what this may be? I just recently did my full 90k mile service. This was there before and is still there.

So it only does it under high engine and drivetrain load.... first thing I'd rule out is an exhaust leak around the manifolds. Also check the CV joints for excessive play as well as the front driveshaft (though a bad joint in the driveshaft normally causes a noticeable vibration as well)

I think you are hearing the air intake. It makes a sound like that.

    Red face

I hear that sound from time to time - I threaten to make her sit in the back with the kids if she doesn't knock it off...

Turning up the stereo can also help...
