I have had a wheelskins installed for a few years now. I am pretty happy with it but you should take your time when installing to do it right. I rushed and messed up one thread and I always notice it. Don't get me wrong - most people think its a factory leather wheel. They fit pretty tight. As far as wear - it could be better. I got grey and the dye has worn off in spots to black. What I do like about the cover is that the steering wheel is a little thicker and is more comfortable for me when driving. OH - also make sure everything is nice and warm so you can stretch the leather during the install.

Sending the wheel off is also a great option - but you have to remove your airbag and the stealer will charge you to reset.
