Replaced another bent tie rod and two bad mounting bushings on the front axle. We were able to disconnect the drive shaft (aka propeller) and unbolt the LCA on the passenger side, then rotate the diff enough to replace them both without removing the axle. It was less than a two-hour job--including pressing the old bushing out. The rear bushing/isolator (near the drive shaft) was totally destroyed, and the front bushing was cracked all the way around (this one was pricy!). Now, I'm off to get a car wash then put the armor back on.

I just watched it in the driveway taking 50mph winds and nickel size hail slam into it for the last half hour

Decided to try the Superchips tow tune for a change (programmed yesterday), given the hilly nature of the Pittsburgh 'burbs. Running 89 - 93 octane, it seems a bit peppier, and holds gear a bit longer before upshifting, which has gotta be better than leaving it in 4th all the time! More details, mileage update, etc., to follow.

Fixed the "elusive" front end clunk finally, it was the drivers front lower control bolt on the front had worked itself loose enough to slide ever so often and just now saw the scuffs from the bolt moving!

Replaced the factory battery yesterday... oy... Didn't realize nobody sells the ONE and ONLY one style of battery that fits these things, for LESS than $160!!! Was gonna get mine at Autozone - I had a $25 frequent flyer discount coming on my next purchase over $100, and that was gonna get me down to $141 on the battery. Called up a church member though, who's an Asst. Mgr. at the local Monro Muffler, to see if he knew any better deals. He got me out the door with a new one, for right at $136! So I saved $30 at least!

Oh - and I touched up the rear lower quarter panels - right by the doors, in front of the wheels - with some Chrysler silver paint! They were looking a little rough and blasted after 5 years, and the paint matched nicely!

Bosch makes the properly sized battery. I put that in last year.

Edit: came to $147 after tax.

Finally got the sport utility bars installed I bought from Jon a long time ago. I had to buy the tamper proof hex key and I rattle can bed lined them. They make my XK look even taller.
